LEADERSHIP AT GOIZUETA
Emory’s Goizueta Business School is committed to realizing the mission of the institution, to
develop “principled leaders for global enterprise.” We pursue this mission through a holistic,
integrated curriculum that starts with mastery of the core management disciplines in the first
year. In the second year, the curriculum builds from the core disciplines to prepare you
for leadership responsibility through a series of experiential leader development modules and
multiple opportunities for the application of learning within the business school and
surrounding community.
Leader development at Goizueta is not a series of discrete events, but a coherent process of
individual development and growth over time. The programming is based on, and measured
against, a competency model that reflects our comprehensive approach to developing leaders:

“Professor Robert Kazanjian was my Strategy Professor during my first module of classes at
Emory. As part of our class, Professor Kazanjian forced me to do so much more than just
read cases and answer application questions. I learned how to approach any problem by
using critical analysis and often a heavy dose of analytics. I will never look at a business
challenge again without utilizing what I learned from Professor Kazanjian. He definitely
strengthened my ability to face problems and ultimately be a stronger, more prepared,
global leader.”
“Professor Sundar Bharadwaj has been instrumental in shaping my view of the marketing
world. I came in with the notion that marketing was a vague “art” with no real benefit
and I would only take the mandatory marketing classes. However, in my core marketing
class, he presented such a compelling and fact-based view of marketing that I have taken
more marketing classes this semester and have decided to make it my concentration.
Professor Bharadwaj has also been a great mentor and sounding board for ideas.”

“Professor Jan Barton, who teaches Financial Reporting, was an invaluable part of my
academic experience at Goizueta. Technical interviews in finance can be intimidating.
Without a thorough framework to start from, it can be very difficult to think through the
creative questions you’ll face. Professor Barton’s ability to go past the simple construction
of financial statements into truly interpreting how they are affected by different complex
financial transactions was crucial in developing my ability to secure a finance internship
for the summer.”

CUSTOMIZE YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE
In response to the dynamic business world, Goizueta offers 21 different concentrations—within the five academic areas—in both established
and emerging topics. Electives provide students the opportunity to pursue specific areas of study beneficial to a particular career.
Throughout the duration of the MBA program, you select a minimum of 13 electives in the Two-Year MBA or 10 electives in the
One-Year MBA. Depending on the course of study, you may choose Goizueta electives or approved electives from other schools within
Emory or other partner institutions.
Furthermore, Two-Year MBA students tailor their curriculum to meet specific career goals. By choosing four electives to take in your area
of study prior to a summer internship, you can maximize your return from the internship experience.

social psychology, sociology and economics. Goizueta students learn how to utilize a wide array of
research techniques, ranging from experiments to longitudinal event-history analysis to computer

FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Financial Aid
In addition to scholarships, information on a wide variety of loans is available through Emory’s Financial Aid Office. For example, through
the International Student Loan Program, international candidates can borrow funds without the requirement of a U.S. citizen cosigner. For
more information on loan options and to download applications, please visit Emory University’s Financial Aid Web site.

“As a One-Year MBA, I took advantage of every opportunity to learn more from
my extremely diverse classmates. During just one year, I was able to interact with
individuals from 50+ countries, as well as spend three weeks in the Middle East
visiting multi-national organizations. I attended events like the International
Potluck, Section Competitions and also volunteered for countless committees.
This network of classmates will be invaluable to my future in an increasingly
global world.”
