Application
Example 1.
-11 - 5
-11 - 5 → -11 + 5
*Change the subtrahend or number being subtracted
away into its opposite (change the sign)
-11 - 5 = -16
Example 2.
-8 - (-12)
-8 - (-12) → -8 + (-12)
-8 + (-12)→ -8 + 12
-8 + 12 = 4
-8 - (-12) = 4
Example 3.
-29 - (-15)
-29 + 15 = -14
IV. Evaluation
The teacher will randomly call 3 students that will go in front to answer. The
teacher will give them one equation to solve if they really understand the topic.
V. Assignment
1. -13 - 5
2. 8 - (-4)
3. 26 - 11
4. -15 - (-11)
5. 5 - (-13)
6. -19 - 13
7. 16 - 19
8. -17 - (-21)
9. -32 - 17
10. 19 - (-9)
