Narrative Report (PAFTE-1)
At around 8:15 o’clock in the morning on March 11, 2022, the Philippine
Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Region I held a virtual students’
congress via Zoom Platform. Before the activity proper, Saint Louis College led the

Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.
negatives into positives; from uncertainty to certainty, from ambiguity to ability. In order
to do this, research must be taken seriously. We can
use the problems in the classroom to bridge
educational gaps. Afterwards the first Speaker, Dr.
Elmer B. De Leon, Limay Polytechnic College LPC)
President, started his talk regarding Contextualizing
Action Research in the Teaching-Learning
Process, wherein he imparted his knowledge on
conducting an Action Research Plan. He reiterated
that Action Research is like our ears: the problem enters the left ear, the solution comes
out in the right ear. Teachers have to be innovative and enhance their skills through
research. He ended his talk by providing Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs) in his talk and answered
them substantially. Down to the last speaker, Dr.
Brenda B. Corpuz, focused on Pre-service
Teaching Competence for Quality and
Inclusivity. She imposed the question, “How ready
are you to teach?”, she explained that a teacher
should possess academic preparedness as well as
excellent classroom management. In every
classroom, there should be an acknowledgement for diversity and inclusivity. There is a
saying, "Every man is in certain respects like all other men, like some other men, no other
man,” which means we have many things in common no matter what culture but at the
same time, every man is no other man; we are unique from each other. As future
educators, she remined us to live and embrace diversity. Soon, we will meet diverse
learners so we have to apply what we have learned in classroom management. In
addition, Dr. Corpuz reiterated some of her observed weaknesses of student teachers
which are: faulty grammar, code-switching, lack of
subject matter mastery, poor teaching skills. On the
other hand, she suggested strengths that can be
helpful for student teachers, these are: experiential
learning, place-based learning, mastery of the basics,
board examination preparedness, and the OAR
(Observe and Notice, Reflect, Analyze) Process. She
ended her talk with the quote, “Do more, have more
in order to be more!”.
afternoon session of the students’ congress. Then, the awarding of certificates for the
presenters and participants followed. Finally, Dr. Imelda E. Cuartel, the Vice Chairman of
PAFTE I, concluded the activity by her closing remarks.
