SOP FOR HOUSEKEEPING DEPARTMENT

Guestroom cleaning workflow

Guestrooms should be kept clean, comfortable, and free from dust, trash, spots, and stains. They should
provide complete guest amenities.

1. Enter the guestroom


 Use a door stop to keep the door open. Park the housekeeping trolley and vacuum
cleaner in front of the door. This would prevent other guests from mistakenly going
inside the room.
 Turn on the main switch to check on room functionality.
 Note the time of entry from consistency with the keycard system and security purposes
2. Prepare room for cleaning
 Remove room service trays
 Open the curtains to let natural light enter the room
 Check for lost and found items.
 Check for losses and breakages
 Collect the trash, both in the bedroom and bathroom area
 Dust the room
3. Clean the bathroom
 All used bathroom linen is to be replenished
 Facilities inside the bathroom are cleaned according to the hotel’s standards.
4. Make the bed
The bed is made according to the standards of the hotel property
5. Dust the room
All furniture and counters are dusted accordingly.
6. Replenish Supplies and Amenities
Room supplies and amenities should be replaced to ensure utmost functionality
7. Exit the Guestroom
Perform last minute inspection to ensure functionality and presentation of guest room.

Cleaning the Front Office and Lobby


 Clear all ashtrays into the trash ensuring no cigarettes are burning
 Clean and restore them to proper places
 Clear the dustbins near front office desk
 Remove spider webs from ceiling
 Remove stains on the carpet and furniture
 Clean all artifacts using damp and soft cloth carefully
 Dust and polish any vases, paintings and art pieces
