TEACH MUSIC IN ELEMENTARY GRADES
OUTCOMES-BASED EDUCATION COURSE SYLLABUS
I. VISION: SCC is a non-stock, non-profit educational institution that envisions itself to be a center of excellence in Academics, Technology and the Arts. It aspires
to produce professionals and leaders who are globally competent, imbued with Christian values, integrity, patriotism and stewardship through quality human
education.
II. MISSION: SCC, following the ideals of St. Cecilia, commits itself to:
1. Cultivate and inculcate Christian values to its pupils/students to become men and women of faith and integrity;
2. Provide the students with the knowledge and skills in academics, technology and the arts through the use of modern teaching methods and techniques;
3. Foster the development of love for country and service to fellowmen;
4. Upgrade the teachers’ skills and competencies in classroom instruction and management through Faculty Development Program;
5. Develop the critical thinking skills of students;
6. Provide opportunities to students to discover their talents and skills;
7. Inculcate in the students the love, care and preservation of Mother Nature.
III. COMMITMENT:
Cecilians are capable of giving their best and do what is beyond one’s task. They are self-motivated and determined to develop themselves holistically.
VI. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Teaching Music in the Elementary Grades is a course designed to teach elementary education majors how to use music in the
elementary classroom. This course deals with the educational foundations of music as it applies to teaching and learning. Students will actively participate in music
activities that include singing, playing instruments, moving, creating, and listening. Various teaching strategies and assessment appropriate for each area be given
emphases in the course
I. INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Show their innate talents and skills imbued with Christian values through quality human education, excellence and service.
2. Demonstrate their commitment by doing things beyond their task which is reflective of their holistic formation.
3. Apply professionalism with strong leadership in their chosen field.
4. Innovate pragmatically proactive strategies to address social problems.
5. Exhibit loyalty to their alma mater that reflects its mission and vision at the workplace at all times.
a. To produce recognized graduates who are competent in their chosen field of service.
b. To develop future graduates who can generate global leaders in the prospect of communications and information technology.
c. To produce globally competent and confident graduates who have high levels of literacy, critical thinking and are effective communication as mediators
for efficient facilitation of student learning.
d. To produce liaison graduates who can transfer learning’s with accuracy in information technology.
By the end of the four-year program, students should have developed and acquired the following competency:
a. Pursue a lifelong learning for personal and professional growth;
b. Employ the acquired skills by demonstrating the Cecilian Vision, Mission and Values in the society;
c. Use information and communication technology effectively and efficiently
