Ecotourism in Costa Rica

Costa Rica has been associated with ecotourism for a number of years. 26% of the land is given
over to national parks, reserves and protected lands. There is much to see and do, with exotic birds
and wildlife, a wide variety of marine species and the chance to stay in traditional accommodation
with local people.

The family environment offers an opportunity for personalised attention and helps to inform
visitors about rural culture, farming traditions and small local industries and crafts. It is possible to
experience traditional foods and to see the sustainable experiences in practice.

Costa Rica provides an adventure; it is a land of volcanoes, rivers, lakes and rainforests where
activities such as rafting, kayaking, aerial walkway explorations and snorkelling may be experienced.
