During a global pandemic restrictions were placed on travel. This meant fewer tourists could
travel and take part in tourism activities.

During the pandemic destinations experienced fewer negative environmental, social and
cultural impacts of tourism.

Having experienced a time with little or no tourism, governments and tourism organisations
have become more focused on increasing the positive impacts of tourism and decreasing
the negative impacts of tourism.
