Good morning, panelists, and ma'am Maica.

Today, we will be presenting our research entitled "Impact

of Online Gaming on the Academic Performance of Junior High School Students of Saint Francis of Assisi
College”.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between online gaming and academic
performance among junior high school students. With the growing popularity of online gaming, it is
important to understand the potential effects it may have on the academic performance of young
students.

The study will be conducted using a survey questionnaire administered to a sample of junior high school
students. The results will show that there is a significant negative correlation between the amount of
time spent playing online games and academic performance.

However, it is important to note that online gaming is not necessarily a bad thing. It can provide
opportunities for socialization and can improve problem-solving skills and hand-eye coordination. The
key is moderation and balance.

Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that parents and teachers alike encourage
students to balance their time spent playing online games with other activities such as studying,
exercise, and spending time with friends and family.

In conclusion, the impact of online gaming on academic performance among junior high school students
is significant and warrants attention. It is important for parents and educators to be aware of the
potential effects and to work together to promote a balanced and healthy approach to technology use
among students.

Thank you for your time and attention. I am now open for questions
Possible Questions

What is the Significance of the Study?:

The significance of the study lies in determining the effect of online gaming on the academic
performance of junior high school students. This information can be useful in understanding how much
time students are spending on gaming, and if this time is impacting their education and grades. The
results of the study can also inform parents, teachers, and policy makers on whether or not there should
be limitations placed on online gaming for this age group, and in developing strategies for promoting
healthy habits for students in regards to online gaming and academic performance.

What is the background of the study?:

The background of the study is centered on the increasing prevalence and accessibility of online gaming
among junior high school students. Online gaming has become a popular pastime for many students,
and it is important to understand the impact it is having on their academic performance. As the use of
technology continues to grow, it is important to examine the impact it is having on the education and
development of students. This study aims to explore the relationship between online gaming and
academic performance and determine if there is a significant effect.

What is the Goal/Aim of the study?:

The goal of the study is to determine the impact that online gaming has on the academic performance of
junior high school students. The aim is to understand if there is a correlation between the amount of
time spent playing online games and academic performance, and to what extent online gaming affects
the academic performance of junior high school students.

Why did you choose Junior high school students over Grade school and Senior high school students?

The reason why we the researchers chose junior high school students over grade school and senior high
school students is that junior high school students are in what we call the developmental stage: they are
at an age where they are in the process of developing their interests, habits, and behaviors, including
gaming habits. At this age, students are more likely to be exposed to online gaming, which makes it an
important time to study its impact. While grade schoolers are typically too young to have access to
online gaming or may not have the cognitive development to understand the games, this could limit the
validity of the study’s results, and for senior high school students, they may already have established
habits and behaviors, so the impact of online gaming on their academic performance may be less
significant. Additionally, senior high school students may be more focused on preparing for college and
other post-secondary education, making the impact of online gaming less relevant.
Why did you choose this topic?

Online gaming has become a popular form of entertainment among young people, including junior high
school students. It is important to understand how this activity may impact their academic performance
and to provide insights for educators and parents. The results of this study could have practical
implications for educators, parents, and policy makers. By understanding the impact of online gaming on
academic performance, they can take steps to support students and ensure they are not negatively
impacted by this activity.

What is the gap in your research?

Research Gap: There may be limited research on the impact of online gaming on academic performance
specifically among junior high school students. Conducting a study on this population can help fill this
research gap.
