WRITING A REPORT ON STUDIES
Reading
1. Magdalena’s new English teacher has asked her to write a report on her
previous language course. Read her report. Did she enjoy the course? Why’?

Yes, because she really liked speaking with her classmates


and her teacher was very patient and kind.

2.Fill in Magdalena’s end-of-course report.


Magdalena has completed a one- month course at elementary level. She has worked
hard, both in class and after class in the study centre/afternoons. She has made
good progress, especially in her speaking. However, she could still improve this, and
also needs to work on her grammar and writing.

Last summer I studied English at the Language Center


of the Antenor Orrego University.
I studied on Saturdays and Sundays for five hours and
in the mornings and afternoons we had free time to
meet with my family.
My class was basic level and there were 30 students in
class, we studied a book called Cursebook-Global,
sometimes we played games and listened to songs. We
did a lot of speaking and listening activities and we did
a lot of grammar exercises.
I really enjoyed talking but I need to expand my
vocabulary.
I made progress in my listening comprehension and
grammar.

China is the largest country in East Asia. The population of China is over 1.3 billion,
and the capital city is Beijing. One of the most famous buildings in Beijing is the
Forbidden City. This is where the last Emperor of China lived, and today it is visited
by millions of tourists every year.
Sport is very popular in China, and the 2008 Olympic Games were held in Beijing.
Every morning many people practise qigong and tai chi chuan in the city's parks. Go
is another famous game that was invented in China. It is played with counters on a
board, and the objective is to control the largest part of the board.
