 This is an individual assignment.

 The submission format is in the form of an E-report. Please refer the “Turnitin Submission Rules”
that was posted on Moodle.
 The file on Turnitin must be in Word format and include the first page of this cover sheet. The
first page of the cover sheet should be in the picture format in order to ensure the accepted
similarity of Turnitin.
 The similarity allowed is up to 25% after excluding references.
 Name of the file includes Student ID_Unit name_Assessment no. (E.g. “1010001_BS_A1.1”)
 Ensure that authenticity declaration has been signed electronically.
 Plagiarism is unacceptable. Students must cite all sources and input the information by
paraphrasing, summarising or using direct quotes. A Referral Grade is given when Plagiarism is
identified in your work. There are no exceptions.

 Your evidence/findings must be cited using Harvard Referencing Style. Please refer to Reference

Assessment Brief and Guidance:

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

In this assignment, you are to choose an appropriate company (could be operating in Vietnam or
internationally) so that you can collect information for strategic analysis. Your responsibility is to perform
a strategic analysis of the chosen company, using a number of concepts and analytical tools/frameworks
in business strategy. You are requested to write a report to:

1. Briefly introduce the company of your choice. (500 words)


You should:

1.1. Describe briefly the chosen company, and its main products and markets.

1.2. Explain the statements concerning mission, vision, strategic goals/objectives and philosophy/values
of the chosen company.

2. Analyse the impact and influence which the macro environment has on the company and its
business strategies. (1000 words)
You should:

2.1. Apply the PESTEL framework to analyse the current notable conditions and future trends in each
sub-environment of the macro-environment based on reliable sources of data/information.

2.2. Determine and inform strategic management decisions by assessing the opportunities and threats
from the external environment for the chosen companies.

3. Evaluate and apply the outcomes of an analysis using Porter’s Five Forces model to a given
market sector. (800 words)

3.1 Applying Porter’s Five Forces model evaluate the competitive forces of a given market sector for the
chosen company.

3.2 Devise appropriate strategies to improve competitive edge and market position based on the
outcomes

4. Assess an organisation’s internal environment and capabilities. (1200 words)

4.1 Analyse the internal resources and capabilities of the chosen company using the VRIO framework.

4.2 Analyse the corporate/organisational stakeholders by using appropriate tools/frameworks.

4.3 Critically evaluate the internal environment to assess strengths and weaknesses of the chosen
company’s internal capabilities.

5. Apply models, theories and concepts to assist with the understanding and interpretation of
strategic directions available to the chosen company (1000 words)

5.1 Combine the outcomes of the above analyses to devise strategic directions for the chosen company.

5.2 Produce a strategic management plan for the chosen company that has tangible and tactical
strategic priorities and objectives.

5.3 Define and discuss the crucial factors that could contribute to the successful implementation of the
suggested strategic management plan for the chosen company.
