Course Title CE 109 – Quantity Surveying


Course Credits: 1 unit lecture; 1 unit computation Contact Hours/Week 2 hrs lecture; 3 hrs computation
Course Description: This course provides a basic understanding of the methods used to prepare (1) a building and/or bridge
construction cost estimate (2) earthwork costs. The students learn to do a quantity takeoff utilizing plans and
specifications.
Course prerequisite: Building Systems Design
At the end of the course, the students must be able to:

3. Evaluate total cost of engineering projects, including labor fringes, taxes, bonding fees, insurance,
overhead and profit.

Course Requirements Classroom Policies:
• Students are required to create an account and/or join the group or online classroom using the
platform (Messenger, Google Classroom, etc.) agreed during the class orientation.
• Modules or Lecture Notes (PDF or PPT file) for each topic included in the syllabus will be sent
through the online platform agreed by the class and respective university links.
• Examinations and assessments will be sent online through Google Forms, Messenger, Email,
etc.

• Answers for the assessment should be submitted on or before the end of the duration
• Midterm Examination
indicated in each module or upon the release of the next module. Each student should provide

a notebook for the subject. Answers for the assessment should be written on the said
notebook. (Note: Do not forget to write the questions before answering the

• Late submission of answers for any assessment/examination, without an authorized extension
of deadline, will cause a reduction in student’s score.
