Course Overview The "Estimation and Costing" course focuses on fundamental
principles and practices essential for construction project
planning and budgeting. It covers a wide range of topics,
including units of measurements, various estimation methods,
rate analysis for standard construction items, specifications in
building projects, earthwork measurement techniques, and
property valuation. Through this course, students will develop
a strong foundation in construction cost estimation, allowing
them to efficiently plan, analyse, and evaluate construction
projects, making them well-equipped for the demands of the
construction industry.
Course Objectives This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of estimation, costing, rate analysis,
specifications, earthworks, and valuation in civil engineering.
By the end of the course, students will be proficient in various
methods of estimation, rate analysis for construction items,
specification writing, earthwork calculations, and property
valuation techniques. The focus will be on applying theoretical
knowledge to practical scenarios, ensuring competence in cost
estimation, resource allocation, and property assessment within
the construction industry.
