ABSTRACT
Being at Kasulu District Council, I have learnt a lot of things practically concerning with my
career especially on communication informations, video and photography taking, and reporting
different issues computer.

Major challenges which I have faced in my field work are lack of technical tools lack of
cooperation among workers. There are no enough tools like cameras which will enable us to
solve technical problems efficiently and communication workers have no cooperation especially
when working in collecting news and the problem of electricity.

I would like to recommend that the organization should have a direct solution towards the
problem of unreliable electricity. For example by introducing an independent transformer within
the organization the problem of electricity will have been cured.

CHAPTER TWO

ACQUIRED SKILLS

2.1 Introduction.
My practical training at Kasulu Town council was very beneficial. I learnt various activities that
I never knew before, and the experience acquired has shaped my understanding on media related
issues and has added something vital in my Public relations and advertising career; Skills I have
gained includes the following

2.2 Communication Skills;

As A Mass communicator one of the most essential skill is to be able to communicate effectively.
The skill which I have put into practice when I was sent to gather news in different location. I
was required to contact my source of Information and get information from them which later I
would use it to prepare content for broadcasting purpose.

2.3 Technical skills;

Media activities involves the usage of various technical devices to accomplish one’s task, The
use of Sound recorders to capture sound cameras, boom Microphone and Mac computers
installed with Production software provided me with technical skills to use these devices.

2.4 Interpersonal skills;

During the Practical training I interacted with other students who we shared experiences also
worked hand in hand in conducting the activities as assigned by our supervisor. Such as
preparing a weekly news magazine which had to include more than one news stories, these
collaborations provided me with strong interpersonal skills.

During Practical trainings there was various obstacles that happened and had to be solved for
instance going out and gathering news and the sound recorder refuse to work. Or the source of

CHAPTER THREE:

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

3.0 Conclusion
The practical training is very useful tool in enabling the student to apply what have been
taught theoretically in classes during the course work. Practical training is an important
aspect in the carrier development of the student since it expands the efficiency, skills
provides new knowledge as well as creating an opportunity for employment chances. In
addition to that practical training provides an opportunity to students to integrate theory
into practical as well as enabling them to face challenges and opportunities in the training
they acquire.

The practical training can be of great advantage to students only if they are placed
according to their areas of specialization so that they can perform task that resemble what
they have been taught in classrooms lectures. By doing so I request the organization to
provide relevant tasks and duties so that they can benefit to acquire skills and knowledge
to be applied in my future employment.

3.1 Recommendations
The Organization should be able to teach the students new and relevant things according
to changing technological innovations and application of the knowledge in business
environments. Also the application of current and reliable materials should be taken into
accounts because most of the materials used are very old and outdated hence do not
correspond to the current labor market demands of competitive employees.

Also the management should link the complex theories together with their respective
practices so as to become easy for the students to understand the theories. There should
be more project work that involves the performance of practical activities to be given to
students together with study tours in various companies. This will help the students to
observe various activities and will enable them to understand management styles and
different companies structure as well as how this structures working in meeting the goals
and objectives.

lOMoARcPSD|21579507

Last but not least should provide allowances to students during the field practical training
in order them conduct their field work precisely. This is because other students get field
work very far from their home place this allowance which they will be given will help
them minimize cost
