The lesson plan discusses teaching present tense verbs to elementary students through a story about a child's family. The objectives are for students to identify, choose, and construct sentences using present tense verbs. The lesson proper involves motivating students with songs and pictures, introducing verbs as action words, reading a story about a child's parents and their activities, and having students identify the present tense verbs in the story sentences. The goal is for students to understand verbs as words that express actions.

“Very Good, Class! That’s right!”
“I’ve shown you those pictures because our
topic for today is all about verb.”
(Kids are listening)
“Do you have any idea what verbs are?”

“Yes, (Student’s name)?” (Student raised her hand)

“Bravo, (Student’s name)! A verb is a word “Verbs are action words.”

that tells an action, it tells what someone or
something does, did or will do.” (Kids are listening)

“I'll give you an example, so listen carefully.

Okay class?”

“Yes, teacher!!”
“My mom is cooking.”

“The verb or the action word in that sentence is

the word “cooking”, because cooking is an
action and it is what my mom did. So, when we (Kids are listening)
say verb or action word, it is what the subject
does.”

“Now, when we say action what does the

subject do?”
“Yes, (Student’s name)?” (Student raised her hand)

“Alright! Very good!” “When we say action, the subject is moving.”

“Another example, “Allein is eating”. Who can

tell me what the verb is in that sentence?”

“Okay, (Student’s name) tell us what the verb (Student raised her hand)
is.”
“The verb in that sentence is the word
“Good job, (student’s name)! The verb in that “eating”.”

sentence is the word “eating” because it shows

an action.”
“Now, who can give a sentence and tell me
what the verb is in that sentence.”
(Student raised his hand)
“Okay, (Student’s name)?”

“What is the verb in that sentence?”

“Joshua is running on the street.”

“Very good, (Student’s name)!” “The verb in that sentence is the word
“running”.
“Who can give another example?”

“Yes, (Student’s name)?”

(Student raised her hand)

“Good job, (student’s name)! I am glad that
you understand our lesson.”
““Mark is hiding.” The verb in the sentence is
the word “hiding”.”
“What is verb again, class?”

"Well done, children! I can see that you indeed “Verb is an action word.”
understood our discussion."

“Give yourselves a mommy Dionisia clap.”

“1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. Very Good! “

“For us to learn more about verbs, I have a
story here which is all about Lei’s parents. The
title of this story is “Lei’s Parents”.”

“Can someone please come here in front and

read this story for us to know who Lei's parents
are?” (Student raised her hand)

“Me, teacher.”
“Okay, (Student’s name) come here.”

“Listen properly, children, because I have

questions later. Is that clear?”

“Yes, teacher”
“(Student’s name), you may start.”

(Student read the story)

“Lei’s Parents. My father is a hardworking
man. He has a strong body and kind. He works
at a farm mostly at day time. He also takes a
rest. He plays with us, sail a boat, and brings
us to different places. He has a beautiful pair
“Thank you, (Student’s name). You may sit.” of eye.”

“(Student’s name), can you please continue “Thank you, teacher.”

the story for us?”

“Okay, go here in front.” “Yes, teacher.”

“This is my mother. My mother keeps our

vegetable garden. She often prepares our
food. She makes our home clean and tidy. She
takes good care of us.

I love my parents. They protect us from harm

“Okay, thank you so much, (Student’s name). and danger, they keep us happy and well.”
You may sit.”

“Thank you, teacher.”

“Okay, children, what did you notice in the
story that (Student’s name) and (Student’s
name) have read?”
(all Students)
“It is full of verbs teacher.”
“Very good!”

“Verbs specifically express what a person is

doing or has done. Let us now identify the
verbs used in the story. I will identify some of
the action words, and afterwards you will
identify the others. Is that clear, children?

“What is verb again?” “(All students)”

“Yes, Teacher!”

(Everyone)
“Very good, Children.” “Verb is a word that tells an action.”

“As you can observe in the third sentence of

the story, it says there “He works at a farm
mostly at day time.” The verb used in that
sentence is the word “WORKS”.” (Kids are listening)
“Another, in the fourth sentence, it says “He
also takes a rest.” The verb used in that
sentence is the word “TAKES” or the words
(Kids are listening)
“TAKES A REST” which is a verbal phrase.”

“Now it’s your turn, class.”

“What other action words did you hear in the

“TEACHER!”
story earlier?”

“PLAYS, teacher.”
“Yes, (Student’s name)?”
“Very Good! Next, (Student’s name).”
“Brings”

“Another?’

“Keeps, teacher”
“Alright! Any one other hand?”
“Yes, (Student’s name)?” (Student raised her hand)

“MAKES our clean home and TAKES good

“Very good, everyone! Now, have you noticed care of us, teacher.”

something on the verbs they used in the

story?”

(Student raised her hand)

“Okay, (Student’s name)?”

“I think all the verbs used were ending with an

“s”.”
“Very good you are correct. When a verb ends
with an “s”, it means that it is a singular verb. A
singular verb modifies a singular subject. We
use singular verb when we only have one
(Kids are listening)
subject in the sentence.”
For example, “He TALKS to the girl.” He is a
singular subject that’s why we used the
singular verb “TALKS”.

“Another example, Jerome eats ice cream.”

“Now what is the singular verb in this
sentence?”

“Okay, (Student’s name)” (students raised their hands)

“That’s right, another examples in S form “Teacher, the singular verb is the word eats.”
(singular). SINGS, DANCES and WRITES”

“Always remember that a singular subject must

have a singular verb.”
“Do you have any questions so far?”

“Okay if there is no question, let’s talk about “None teacher”

present tense verb.”

“When we say present tense it is a verb tense

which is used to describe the current activities
or state of being.” (Kids are listening)

Example:
I work at the shop.
“In this example “work” is the present tense”

“another example she cries like a baby.”

“What is the present tense verb in this
example?”
“Yes, (Student’s name)”
(Student’s raised her hand.)

“Very Good!” “The present tense verb is cries.”

(Student’s raised her hand.)

“Can somebody give me another example?”
“Yes?

“She talks too much”

“awesome (Student’s name)!”

Can somebody tell me what is the present

tense in his example.?
“Yes, you’re raising your hand (Student’s (Student’s raised her hand.)
name.)

“Talks is the present tense.”

“Very good, children! Give yourselves a three
clap.”
“Another example is Mary feeds her dog.”
“what is the present tense verb?”

“Awesome children.”
“Feeds, teacher.”

“Do you now understand now?”

“YES, TEACHER”
“Are there any questions about verbs?” “YES, TEACHER.”

“Okay always remember that verb are words “None, teacher.”

that describe an action and present tense verb
shows an action that happens now.” (Kids are listening)

“Is that clear?”

“Okay, teacher.”
“Okay, now give yourselves a very good clap!”
“Yes, Teacher!”

“1,2,3 clap”
“1,2,3 stamp”
“Are there any questions?” “Very Good, Very Good!”

“None, teacher!”
