I. Introduction
Good morning boys and girls!
Good morning teacher.
Let us start the class with a prayer.
(Pupils recite the prayer.)
Again, good morning boys and girls! Good morning, Teacher!

Please be seated. Thank you, teacher.

Who are absent today? None, teacher.

Very good!

Before I start the class, let me remind you of some rules that
you need to follow.

1. You need to listen and behave during the whole class. You
should not talk with your seatmates or classmates.
2. You need to sit properly on the floor and do not break
your lines.
3. You need to participate during the discussion and just
raise your hand if you want to answer.
4. You need to speak English for the whole period.

If you can follow all these rules, you can pick a gift from this
red box after the class.
Are you all ready? Yes, teacher.
Then show me that you are ready. Everybody, position 1…
2…3…4
Ok good!

* Motivation

Class, do you want to play a game?

Okay! We will have a game but make sure to follow the rules
I told you earlier.

Let us have a game between boys and girls. All boys will stay
at the right side and girls on the left side.
This is a “Guessing Game.” Teacher is going to act in front
and you have to guess what I’m doing.
Choose one representative from your group who will write
the answer on the cardboard I’m going to provide and raise
it as fast as you can. The group who can raise the cardboard
first with its correct answer will get the point. The group that
can guess more words will be the winner. Am I clear? Yes, teacher.

Are you all ready? Yes, teacher.

If I say “Ready na, ready na?” You will answer “Aha! Aha!”
and if I say “Aha!Aha!,” you will say “Ready na, Ready na!”
Did you get it?
Yes, teacher.
Ready na, Ready na? Aha! Aha!

Aha! Aha! Ready na, Ready na!

(Teacher acts the following ;)

1. Singing
2. Eating
3. Dancing
4. Drinking
5. Reading

Did you enjoy the game class? Yes, teacher.

Very Well! It seems you really had fun.

Now, let’s go back to the activity we had.

Can you still remember some of the actions I did? Yes, teacher.

Can you give me some of those words? Singing, teacher.

Good! What else? Eating, dancing, drinking, reading

Very good! Now what did you notice with those words? They are action words, Teacher.

Indeed! Those words are action words or what do we call Verbs, Teacher.
them?
Correct!

Action words are what we call verbs. And for today, we will
know more about verbs.

II. Interaction

* Discussion
Class, do you want to dance? Yes, teacher.

Okay! Now, let us watch a dance video presentation and we

will listen to it first. After playing, we will dance together.
(Teacher plays the video.)

Do you like the dance?

Yes, teacher.
The activity we had was about dancing. Is dancing an action
word?
Yes, teacher.
Why do you say so? Because it involves movement,
teacher.
That’s right!
By the way, action words are also called? Verbs, teacher.

Good!
So, class when we say verbs, it is an action word that
involves movement or tells the things that we can do.

Can you recall some of the action words mentioned in the

dance video? Snap, jump, tap crawl, walk, thump,
class, climb, tumble
Very good class! It seems you already understand what
verbs are. It is so easy, right class? Yes, teacher.

Now, let us see if you can already identify the verb in the
sentences. I would like you to look at these pictures and
then read the following sentences.

1. John brushes his teeth.

What is the verb in the sentence? Brushes, teacher.

Very good! Why do you say that brushes is a verb? Because it is an action word, teacher.

Absolutely right! Let’s have another example.

2. The children are singing.

(The same processing.)

Awesome! Let’s give everyone a very good clap.

(Teacher demonstrates the Very Good Clap)

(Children follow)
To fully test if you understand their difference, let us have
an activity.

If I will say a word, and it is a verb, you will raise your hands.
But if I say a word, and it is not a verb, you will clap your
hands. Do you get it?
Yes, teacher.
Let us start.

1. washing
2. Mary
3. book
4. blinking
5. smiling

III. Integration

Now, let us have a group activity. Are you familiar with the
game, “Paint me a Picture”?

This is how we do it. I will divide you into four groups. Then
for example I will say, “Paint me a picture of a Christmas
party.” All of you will think about the things you do during
the Christmas party. You will take action and pretend that
you are at a party. For example, some of you will exchange
gifts, and others will sing or eat while others will play. Once I
say “freeze”, everybody should stop moving. Do you
understand?
Yes, teacher.
I will select leaders for each group. Leaders, help your group
mates with what actions they will do.

Teacher will be the one to judge which group made the best
actions. I will judge you according to these criteria.

Accurateness/Correctness of actions- 25%

Facial Expressions – 25%
Organization – 25%
Teamwork/cooperation- 25%

Now go to your groups. Are you all set?

Ready na, ready na? Yes, teacher.

Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha!

Ready na, ready na!

Paint me a picture of
 a birthday Party
 attending recollection
 children going to church

No everyone go back to your lines silently. (Pupils work within their groups)

* Generalization

So, class have you learned something today?

Yes, teacher.
Can anyone share his/ her learnings about our discussion?

I learned that verbs are action words,

Very well said! teacher.

Since it’s already summer, what are the things you usually
do?
Swimming, going to the mall, eat food,
buy clothes, attend summer class,
Great! Class, always remember that whatever you do every teacher.
day, learn to be happy and be thankful.
Yes, teacher.

*Evaluation

Now I want you to go back to your tables and chairs. Line

one first, then follow…

I will be distributing your paper activity. Do not forget to

write your name, your grade as well as the date today.

Direction: Encircle the verbs in the sentence below.

1. We watch the movies on Friday.

2. My dog barks at cars.
3. She walks to school.
4. Madison skips down the hall
5. The frog hops on the ground.
You may now start answering quietly.

I will be the one to collect your activity on your table. If you

are done, copy your assignment in your language notebook.

*Assignment: Cut 5 pictures that involve actions.

After you are done copying kindly go back to your line.

Please get ready for the prayer.

(Pupils recite the prayer)
Goodbye and thank you, grade 4!
