1-For the circuit shown in Fig.(1), the source is a sinusoid of 120 V rms at a frequency of
60 Hz. The load resistor is 5 Ω. Determine (a) the averageload current, (b) the average
power absorbed by the load, (c) the inputpower factor of the circuit,and(e) the
maximum diode current.

2-If the voltage of problem (1) is 220 V and the load resistance is 20 Ω, find a) average
output voltage ,(b) the r.m.s of output voltage , (c)the r.m.s of ac components of the
output voltage (d) the rating values of the diode , and (f) draw the different waveforms.
3- A single phase 230 V , 1 kW heater is connected across single phase 230 V, 50 Hz supply
through a diode. Calculate the power delivered to the heater.Find also the peak diode
current and input power factor.
4- Using the Fourier series analysis , find the different components of the input current of
problem (3). Calculate the THD of the circuit, and the input power factor.
5- The half-wave rectifier circuit of Fig. (1) has vs(t) = 170 sin(377t) V and the resistance
R =15 Ω. Determine (a) the average load current, (b) therms load current, (c) the
power absorbed by the load, (d) the apparent power supplied by the source, and (e) the
power factor of the circuit.
6 - Verify the results of problem (5) using the PSIMsimulation program.
7- If an inductor of 10 mH is added in series with the resistance in Fig.(1), find the average
output voltage, R.M.S output voltage,the average current ,andrms current.
8- Verify the results of problem (7) using the PSIMsimulation program.
9-A half-wave rectifier has a source of 120 V rms at 60 Hz and an R-L load withR = 12 Ω
and L = 12 mH. Determine (a) an expression for load current, (b) theaverage current, (c)
the power absorbed by the resistor, and (d) the power factor.
10- A half-wave rectifier has a source of 120 V rms at 60 Hz and an R-L load withR = 10 Ω
and L =15 mH. Determine (a) an expression for load current, (b) the average current, (c)
the power absorbed by the resistor, and (d) the power factor.
11- A half-wave rectifier has a source of 240 V rms at 60 Hz and an R-L load withR = 15 Ω
and L = 80 mH. Determine (a) an expression for load current, (b) theaverage current, (c)
the power absorbed by the resistor, and (d) the power factor.
