Activity 1: Find the Secret Letters/ Scavenger Hunt

The teacher will prepare meta cards with big and small letters separately (A-Z).
Make sure Big letters and small letter counterparts don’t go together. Tell the students to search for
the big and small forms of each letter in the alphabet and post them together on the board. It’s one part
competition, one part scavenger hunt. A team to get the most numbered pairs of big and small letters
wins a prize. This maybe done by teams or dyads depending on the number of students in the class.
While students are doing this activity, encourage them to sing along with the Alphabet Song for
mastery of the 26 letters and their letter names.

Activity 2:
Activate students’ prior knowledge on vowels and consonants. Ask 2 pairs of volunteers from the
class. One pair will group the vowels and another will choose the consonants from the pool of letters
posted on the board in Activity 1.

pronunciation of the words.
