CHAPTER THREE
ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AND EXPERIENCE GAINED
My SIWES was carried out at MONIJESU HOSPITAL, the training has exposed me to a lot of
great experience after participating majorly as a source of assistance in various sections mostly in
the data analysis section by using some statistical software like Minitab designed for healthcare
data analysis, to understand their data and make better decisions. The software performs various
statistical tests; create graphs and charts to represent data visually. I acquired practical
knowledge on how to install statistical software, how to setup menu, how perform simple
statistical analysis. Additionally, I learnt how to create graphs and charts to visualize data.
Finally in addition to my Statistical knowledge, I also observe and gain experience in some
medical aspect of the Hospital, like using of thermometer to measure temperature, and some
other simple medical aspects.
MiniTab is data analysis, statistical and process improvement software tool used by
organizations worldwide to improve quality and reduce costs. MiniTab tools are used by Six
Sigma practitioners, quality engineers, and statisticians to help solve real-world problems. In this

● Cut/Copy/Paste: These icons typically resemble a pair of scissors (cut), two overlapping sheets

making profits, below are steps I observe on how MINITAB is setup for sales report
analysis:
Import or Enter Data: Start by importing your sales data into Minitab. You can do this
by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Open Worksheet" to import an existing
file or by manually entering the data directly into Minitab.
Prepare Data Structure: Ensure that your sales data is properly structured. Each
column should represent a different variable, such as Date, Salesperson,
Product/Service, Quantity Sold, Unit Price, and Total Sales. Make sure the data is in
the appropriate format (e.g., dates should be recognized as dates).

CHAPTER FOUR
1. Problem of Securing a Place of Attachment: - I had most of problem searching for a place of
attachment for my Industrial Training because most of the companies rejected my request giving
one reason or the other that they don’t want IT student.
2. Finance: - The Company did not make provision to pay IT student nor do they draft any
allowance, packages so as to lease the expenses for the four months programme.
3. Inaccessible Machine: - The IT students were not given the opportunity to operate most of
their machine they will rather ask you to watching them and learn.
4. Inadequate facilities: - The establishment didn’t provide any accommodation for the I.T
student
4.2 RECOMMENDATION
1. The Industrial Training Fund should compile list of employer’s available training places for
industrial attachment and forward the list to the coordinating agencies.
2. The company should be willing to accept and encourage student that are seeking for S.I.W.E.S
placement in their company.
3. The company or establishment should also grant access to student to make use of their
machine to know how to operate and make use of their machineries.
4. I recommend that Technology should be much more improved upon in the aspect of storage of
medical records of patients present in the wards, and for also the hospital's pharmacy software
used in assessing & costing of prescriptions should be frequently updated in other to obtain the
trends of drugs available in the Hospital and their current prices.
5. Allowances should be paid to students during their programme just like NYSC and not after.
This would help them a great deal to handle some financial problems during their training
course.
4.3 CONCLUSION
In conclusion S.I.W.E.S programme is a necessity, it really helped a lot. It was a great time
acquisition of knowledge, more practical experiences and skills that serves as an eye opening for
students in their various field. My Industrial Training was very educative and has given me a
broader view to the importance and relevance of statistics in the immediate society.
I have also been able to improve my communication and presentation skills and thereby
developed a good relationship with Doctors, Pharmacist, Interns and computer analyst at work
and majorly with the patients. I have also been able to appreciate the connection between my
course of study and other health-related disciplines in achieving a common goal of the Patient’s
interest.
