Guide Questions:
1. What is a solution?
2. Describe solute and solvent.
3. How will you describe a solution with greater amount of solute?
4. How will you describe a solution with greater amount of solvent?

B. Establishing a Wordwall
The learners will arrange the letters to form the word. They will then give their idea about
the word they formed.

Give your idea about the words:

1. Solution
2. Solvent
3. Solute
4. Saturated
5. Unsaturated

The learners will think of examples of solutions. They will answer through recitation.
They will then identify the solute and solvent in each solution.

Possible answers:

Activity 1: PHET Simulation

The learners will manipulate the simulation Salt and Solubility. They will put the salt in
the water. They can increase the amount of solute. They can also increase or decrease
the amount of solvent. They will the observe the solution and the particles of the
solutions.

Activity 2: Describing some properties and characteristics of solution.

Materials Needed: 1 liter of water, 4 plastic cups, 4 pieces spoon, Two (2) tablespoons
each of the following samples: salt, mongo seeds, cooking oil, and vinegar.

Procedures
1. Predict which among the given samples will dissolve in water. Write your predictions
in column 2 on the table provided.
2. Pour one cup of water in each cup.
3. Add ½ teaspoon of each of the samples. Stir the mixture with a teaspoon to dissolve as
much of each sample as possible. Use a different teaspoon for each of the cups.
