SPECIAL NOTES
1. Very congested airspace. Special attention is required during ATC communications.
2. Before arriving at or departing from MPTO/PTY, it is important to review the Airport Operational
Information (AOI) pages, which can be found in the General Part of the Lido mPilot
3. WEATHER:
a. Winds are prevalent from the north/northeast from December through May. The rest of the
year is from the west/northwest and from the south.
b. During the rainy season from May through November, expect TS to develop around mid-
afternoon.
c. MPPA is the primary alternate airport. Closely monitor weather conditions due to its close
proximity to MPTO (16 NM southwest).
d. In the unlikely event that MPTO and MPPA become below operational minimums, consider
MPSM airport. Keep in mind that operating hours are 1100-0300Z and the apron has very
limited parking positions available.
4. NOTE:
a. Accept the ATC's approach and runway assignments to optimize operations at MPTO and
ensure safety.
b. Take-off promptly once authorized by the control tower. For warm-up purposes, take into
account 1-minute warm-up time per aircraft before departure.
5. CAUTION:
ARRIVAL CONSIDERATIONS
1. Expect RNAV (GNSS) Arrivals for the ILS Y RWY 03R approach procedure.
2. Reduce speed below 250 KIAS only when instructed by ATC or as required the published STAR
procedure.
3. In VMC conditions, ATC will use both Rwys for landing in order to expedite traffic. Flights with gate
assigned in North Terminal or “A” Satellite will be aligned for runway 03L and all other flights will
be aligned for runway 03R. Crews are expected to promptly and accurately comply with ATC
clearances.
4. ATC will apply a 4NM separation between aircraft in VMC. In order to avoid a go-around, maintain
160 KIAS until 5NM on final. After landing, vacate the runway as soon as possible to reduce
runway occupancy time.
5. If ATC clearance is to fly direct LAMBI and descend to 1,700' MSL, the aircraft will end up high on
the approach. Plan accordingly and start configuring the airplane early.
6. VOR DME RWY 03L IAP (3.00°) may require a descent rate greater than 1000 ft/min, particularly
during tailwind conditions. Be aware and brief accordingly.
7. RWY 03L-PAPI VGSI (3.00°) is not coincident with the IAP path angle and may require a further
increase in the rate of descent during the visual transition. Be aware and brief accordingly.
8. No FMS discontinuity is provided in some RNAV STAR. If APP clearance is not received at a
specific WPT proceed following the chart-published instructions.
9. NOTE:
a. Always perform a complete landing assessment calculation under any weather condition.
ARRIVAL CONSIDERATIONS
10. CAUTION: For landing assessment purposes on RWY 21R, consider the following markings and
landing distances:
a. Use 8,299' as LDA due to runway aiming point markings located at 2,102' from the threshold
instead of the usual 1,500'. Be aware of the shortened remaining TDZ distance in order to
avoid a long landing.
DEPARTURE CONSIDERATIONS
1. Departing Aircraft shall be ready to line up or Takeoff after receiving ATC Clearance without
delay. If unable to comply, inform ATC before entering Rwy.
2. Departing runways 03L/03R, ATC may assign alternate departure instructions to fly heading 090°
and climb to 5,000´ MSL.
3. When using SIMAN__ departure, during your turn to SIMAN monitor your bank angle, to AVOID
EXCEEDING a BANK ANGLE of 30°.
4. Aircraft departing from runway 03L/R must use NADP 1 to maximize climb performance during
the initial climb when using SIMAN__ or EGETA__ departures.
NADP1: Maintain a climb speed of V2+20 kt with flaps and slats in the take-off configuration. At
3000’ AFE, while maintaining a positive rate of climb, accelerate and retract flaps/slats on
schedule.
5. CAUTION: Low sun angles during early morning flights heading east may temporarily dazzle.
Consider this threat during your briefing.

Maintain RWY heading then, at D4 TUM (03L) or D3 TUM (03R), make a RIGHT climbing turn to a magnetic
heading of 180°. Level off at 935 MSL for flap retraction. Continue climbing to no less than 1700 MSL for
eventual vectors back to the airport.
If engine failure occurs beyond D4 TUM (03L) or D3 TUM (03R) but before D10.5 TUM, while proceeding on
EGETA or SIMAN RNAV departures, immediate RIGHT turn to 180° magnetic heading while maintaining altitude
attained at that point. You may descend to not less than 1700 MSL after crossing TUM R070, for eventual vectors
back to the airport.
