    SPECIAL STITCHES

    Bobble stitch: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a
    loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops. Repeat process three
    more times, until you have a total of 5 loops on your hook, then
    yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.

    Invisible decrease: insert hook into front loop of first stitch, insert
    hook into front loop of second stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop,
    yarn over, pull through both loops on hook to complete stitch.

    Tentacles
    Under Side - Using CC (Make 8)

    Ch. 61, turn work,


    2nd chain from hook HDC 3,
    (Bobble, HDC 2) x19 (60)
    FO, ends can be left out or weaved. (Photos A)

    Top Side - Using MC. You will

    complete one top side, attach to
    under side, and then move onto
    next tenticle.

    Ch. 61, turn work.


    2nd chain from hook HDC 60, ch 1, turn.
    SC 60, turn work.
    DO NOT FO. Grab one of the under side
    tentacles and place wrong sides
    together. Making sure you're starting at
    the 2 HDC end of your bobble piece.

    Work 60 SCs through both tentacle
    pieces (careful not to miss any stitches).
    When you reach the end work 1 SC in
    the tip of the tentacle, then continue
    working remaining 60 SCs down the
    other side. FO. Ends can be left out or
    weaved. (Photos B)
    Repeat for remaining 7 tentacles.

    Body
    Starting at the open end of your first
    tentacle in your MC (Photo C). You will
    SC 4 across, leaving the first stitch
    unworked. We will be joining the last
    (Photo C)
    tentacle back up with that st at the end.

    Grab your next tentacle and continue


    across it with 5 SCs. (Be sure to have all
    bobble sides facing inward). Repeat
    with the remaining tentacles. (Photo D)

    Once you complete along all 8 (Photo D)


    tentacles you will join them into a circle
    (make sure your legs are not twisted
    first) with a SC into that open stitch on
    your first tentacle. You should now
    have all your tentacles joined with a
    total or 40 sts (Photo E).

    The remaining portion of the body is worked in the round.

    Eyes
    Starting on your working yarn side, work 3 SCs to complete this
    round. Your last st will be in the same st as your stitch marker.
    The remainder is worked in the round.

    RD 1: [SC, DEC] x4 (8)


    FO. Weave end to close hole.

    Attach yarn to complete other side with a sl st through both


    spaces that still have your stitch marker.

    Repeat from RD 1.

    Going from underneath the body place safety eyes between


    rds 10-11 of body. Appx. 9-10 sts apart. (Photo I)

    Stuff eyes firmly and body lightly. We


    don't want to overstuff the body as it
    may cause the under belly to puff out.

    Stuff head firmly (careful not to over stuff). This will be sewn with
    the DC's facing down AFTER you have completed and sewn on
    your underbelly. Centring the head bulge behind eyes and body.

    Under Belly

    RD 1: SC 8 in MR (8)

    RD 3: (FLO) INC around (32)

    FO, leaving long tail (appx. 24") to sew to body. This is where you
    will knot together and tuck all your tentacle ends if you have
    chosen not to weave ends. Once you have sewn your belly on
    (making sure your bobbles line up with the tentacle bobbles) DO
    NOT FO, weave your needle and yarn to the centre of your belly.
    (Photos M) Pull needle up and through the back of the body
    (Photo M) and then back down to underbelly. Now you can FO and
    sew your head bulge on.
