2. Crochet hook size 2.5 mm (US B/1, UK 12).
3. 5 double pointed needles size 2.5mm (US 1.5).
4. A needle for sewing the parts of the toy and a long needle for tightening the
muzzle (I take a needle that is used for stitching documents).
5. 10 mm safety eyes.
6. Fiberfill.
7. A ruler and scissors.

If you follow all the instructions precisely and use the recommended materials,
you’ll get 24 -25 cm (~9.4 – 9.8 inches) height toy.

Important! The height of the toy totally depends on your crochet tension. My
crochet tension is quite loose so I take the smaller size of the hook (2.5 mm).
Moreover, I stuff all the parts with fiberfill tightly so that the toy would keep its
shape. If your crochet tension is tight I recommend to take the hook of the larger
size (3 – 3.5 mm).

Cut the thread, leave a small end.

The second leg

Work Rows 1-19 as in the first leg. In Row 20 work only 20 sc (not 24sc) , then
cast on 3 ch and join the first leg at that place where we have finished it (insert the
hook into the next stitch from sl st – as it is shown on the photo).

7
Body

Row1: Continue working: 24 sc on the first leg, 3 sc on the chain, 24 sc on the

second leg, 3 sc on the chain (54)
Stuff the body with fiberfill in the process of making it. I stuff the body tightly,
especially on the sides and at the place where the legs turn into the body.

Row 27: (4 sc, dec) х 4 (20), cut the thread, leave the long thread for sewing the body to the
head.

8
Arms (2 pieces)

Start with white colour.

Row 1: 6 sc in mc (6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: (1 sc, inc) х 6 (18)
Row 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Rows 5-7: 24 sc – 3 rows
Row 8: 6 dec, 12 sc (18)
Row 9: 3 dec, 6 sc, then change yarn colour , continue working 6 sc, then work 9
sc (here will be the new beginning of the row) (15)
Rows 10-17: 15 sc – 8 rows

Stuff the lower part of the arms tightly. From rows 10 to 17 stuff the arms slightly,
otherwise they will stuck out.

Row 18: 5 sc, dec, 6 sc, dec. Fold the arm into two halves and make 6 sc through
the both sides. Cut the thread leaving the long end for sewing.
Embroider the claws at the level of rows 4-7. I take only 1 thread to embroider the
claws (Yarn art jeans consists of 4 threads, I separate them and take only 1 thread).

9
Muzzle

Row 1: 6 sc in mc (6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: (1 sc, inc) х 6 (18)
Row 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Row 5: 24 sc, sl st.
Cut the thread leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears (2 pieces)
Row 1: 6 sc in mc (6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3-4: 12 sc (2 rows)
Fold the ear into two halves and make 5 sc through the both sides. Then fold it
again and sew with a few stitches.

10
Mane

1) Cast on 70 ch + 2 ch (You can have another number of stitches. The main thing
is that the chain should embrace the whole circumference of the head and join at
the neck);
2) Start with the 2nd stitch from the hook: inc made with 2 hdc, inc made with 3
hdc – work alternately till the end;
3) 1 ch, (1 hdc, inc made with 2 hdc) – work alternately till the end.

Tail
1) 4 sc in mc
Then start working sc in rounds inserting the hook only into the front loops.
Work till the cord is 4 cm (~1.6 inches), that is 4-5 rows of 4 sc.

11
1. Cut the brown yarn into 10 cm (~4 inches) long pieces. The more pieces you
make, the thicker the tail will be. I make 18-20 pieces.
2. Insert the hook into the end stitches of the tail (look at the photo);
3. Take the piece of yarn;
4. Get it through the cord;
5. Fasten it.

12
Continue working around the end of the tail in this manner till the tail becomes
thick. Insert the hook randomly into any stitches you want. You can fasten several
pieces of thread into one and the same stitch.
Then hide the end of the yellow thread into the tail. Cut evenly the end of the tail
and make it fluffy (I separate the yarn threads with a needle). The tail is done.

13
14
How to assemble the toy
1. Sew the head to the body (THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT!).
Sew them stitch into stich (you have 20 stitches of the head and 20 stitches of the
body, so you make 20 stitches in total). In order to sew the head evenly it is
recommended to replace the thread with the help of a needle into the center of the
body (take the legs into account) and to make the first stitch into the center of the
head (take the eyes into account). You can also start sewing from that point where
you finished crocheting the body. It all depends on how experienced you are.

In the process of sewing the head to the body stuff tightly the neck and the places
of decreases (thus you’ll get the cheeks after tightening the muzzle).

15
Tightening of the eyes (look at the photos below)
For tightening the eyes I take the long needle. Insert the thread of the body colour
into this needle.
1. Insert the needle into the middle of the neck, draw it out at the center of the outer
part of the first eye;
2. Insert the needle into the center of the inner part of this eye, draw it out at the
middle of the neck where it was inserted at the start;
3. There will be a loop, tighten it;
4. Insert the needle with the same thread into the middle of the neck slightly to the
right from the point where it was first inserted (at the distance of 1 sc). Draw it out
at the centre of the outer part of the second eye;
5. Insert the needle into the center of the inner part of the second eye, draw it out at
the neck again. There will be a loop, tighten it.
6. Pull one end of the thread, then pull the other one. If the eyes are not symmetrical
fix them by hand.

16
17
Sew the muzzle to head at the level of rows 20-27 of the head. Embroider the nose
at the level of rows 3-4 of the muzzle. Embroider the whites of the eyes, eyelashes,
eyebrows (at the level of row 14 of the head) and the cheeks (take the eyes into
account). Sew the mane to the head (start at the center of the neck then go through
the center of the head).

18
19
Sew the ears at the level of rows 8-9 of the head.

Sew the arms to the body at the level of rows 23-25 of the body slightly at the
angle (look at the photo). Embroider the claws on the legs (4-7 rows length).

20
Sew the tail between the rows 7-8 of the body.

21
Crocheted overalls
Row 1: Cast on 52 ch. Join the chain into a circle.
Rows 2-4: 52 hdc – 3 rows (start every row with 1 ch and finish it with sl st into
ch);

Row 5: Make a hole for the tail: 1 ch + 5 ch (6 ch in total), miss 5 stitches, insert
the hook into the 6th stitch and work 47 hdc, sl st into the 1st ch;
Rows 6-10: 1 ch, 52 hdc, sl st into ch – 5 rows;

22
Make trouser legs:
1. Work 3 sl st in order to come to the center of the piece.
2. Work 1 ch, count 25 stitches and insert the hook into the 26 th stitch.
3. Work 26 sc, sl st into ch. Cut the thread and fasten it.
4. Make the second trouser leg. Insert the hook as it is shown in the picture.
Work 26 sc, sl st into ch. Cut the thread and fasten it.

23
Then you have to make the front part of the overalls. Find the center at the back of
the piece (there is a hole for the tail), count 21 stitches clockwise, insert the hook
into the 22nd stitch, work 1 ch (count it as the 1st hdc) and 9 hdc. Make two more
back and forth rows with 1 ch and 9 hdc. Do not cut the thread, start making the
straps. Cast on 27 ch, cut the thread leaving a tail for sewing. Make the second strap
in the same manner. Cross the straps and sew them at the back of the piece.
I put on the overalls on the toy and then make the front part of it and the straps. This
way it is more convenient to sew the straps.
The paw on the overalls consists of 4 (or if you want 5) pieces. All of them are to be
worked in the same manner: 6 sc in mc, sl st.

24
25
Knitted overalls
Abbreviations:
k – knit ;
p – purl;
yo – yarn over;
edge st – edge stitch;
ch – chain stitch;
inc – increase (make 1 stitch increase as follows: with your left needle push it
through that running thread from front to back and bring it up onto your needle, knit
that stitch through the back loop).

Row 1: cast on 32 stitches.

Start working a raglan. Always slip the first edge stitch, purl the last stitch. Make a
yarn over (yo) as it is shown in the photo.

Row 2: edge st, k 30, edge st (32)

Row 3: edge st, k 5, yo, k, yo, k 4, yo, k, yo, k 8, yo, k, yo, k 4, yo, k, yo, k 5, edge

10, edge st (80)
Row 14: edge st, p 78, edge st (80)

Row 15: edge st, k 11, cast off 18, k 20, cast off 18, k 11 , edge st (44)
Row 16: edge st, p 42, edge st (44)

27
Row 17: Make increases – edge st, (inc, k3)x 14, edge st. There are 14 increases in
total (58)
Row 18: edge st, p 56, edge st (58)
Row 19: edge st, k 56, edge st (58)

Then spread all the stitches onto 4 needles in the following way: 14, 15, 15, 14.
Start knitting in rounds up to the tail – about 11 rows 58 stitches each.

Make a hole for the tail. Continue working in rounds but cast off the last 2 stitches
in the next row. Start the new row with casting off the first knit stitch and finish it
with casting on 3 new stitches. That is:
Row 23: k 56, cast off 2 knit stitches;
Row 24: cast off 1 knit stitch, k 55, cast on 2;
Row 25: cast on 1, k 47.

28
Then work in rounds again (k58 each row) till the length of the piece is about 11.5
cm (4.3 inches).

Start making trouser legs.

Divide all the stitches (58) into two halves – 29 stitches each. Put the first 29
stitches into the additional needle or thread. Spread the rest 29 stitches onto 3 needles
and start making the first leg: knit 2 rows in rounds, then cast off all the stitches. Take
29 stitches from the additional needle and spread them onto 3 needles. Make the
second leg in the same manner. There will be a small hole between two trouser legs,
sew it and hide the ends.

29
Sew the straps (I male two straps 36 ch each) or make a loop with a button.

Make a paw.

4 small pieces:

1) 6 sc in mc;
2) 6 inc (12)

1 big piece:

Row 1: Cast on 6 ch
Row 2: Start working with the 2nd stitch from the hook : 4 sc, 3 sc into the last
stitch, along the other side – 3 sc, inc (12)
Row 3: inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (18)
Row 4: 1 sc, inc, 3 sc, (1 sc, inc) х 3, 3 sc, (1 sc, inc) х 2 (24)
Row 5: 2 sc, inc, 3 sc, (2 sc, inc) х 3, 3 sc, 2 sc, inc, 3 sc, sl st (29)

Sew all the pieces to the overalls.
