SECTION A (40 marks)

This section is compulsory

1) A. Type the following passage was the speech of the Kabambe High
school’s Headteacher at the beginning of term – 1 2017. Use any of the word
processing programs and type the speech, after which you attempt all the
parts in the required list (3marks)

Ladies and Gentlemen! You all know that the UCE results 2016 were very
good but not good enough because we did not meet our target of 100%
division one. The 96% first grade that we got we can still celebrate but we
must not sleep! There is no miracle that is required for each of you to get
division one.

What do you lack, anyway? When I was a student no one visited me in

school, no one! I had no pocket money like you but I persevered until I
passed highly to join form six and eventually Makerere University! The only
University by then! Why not you? The life in school is tough but you must be
tougher if you must pull success on your way. Avoid excuses, they won’t
take you anywhere!

In order to succeed you must do the following:
 Respect your teachers, fellow students and every other person around
school.
 Make a clear summary in all the subjects and ensure to revise
regularly.
 You must not dodge any lesson and ensure to do all the assignments
in and outside class.
 Do not be tempted to use any kind of narcotics, alcohol or abusive
drugs as you will be destroyed!

Required:

i) Copy and paste the work you have typed in the new pages, two and three
of the same document (2 marks)
ii) Change the font size in the first page to 13 and font style Tahoma
(2 marks)
iii) Surround the first and second paragraph of page one with a thick border
and shade the surrounded text with patterns of Dk Horizontal style and
orange color (2 marks)
iv) Move to second page and format the first paragraph to two columns and
1.5” line spacing. (2 marks)

v) Indent the second paragraph of second page to 1” both left and right sides
and then justify (2 marks)

vi) Still in the second page, format the bulleted list to numbering alphabets
of capitalized letter styles (2 marks)

vii) Format the third page work by character spacing to Expanded by 1.2”
style (1 marks)
viii) Insert page numbers in your document at the bottom right position
(2 marks)
ix) Insert your full name as End Note. (1 marks)
x) Save your work as Your name – The Speech (1 mark)

1B. Below is the worksheet showing Gayaza S.S Leavers’ party budget. Use
any of the spreadsheet programs and type in the work in the table below
before you follow the instructions provided in the required list. (2marks)

i) Use a function (not a formula) to calculate the Total Price in each item
(2 marks)
ii) Use appropriate functions to calculate:
a) Average Total Price (2 marks)
b) Lowest Total Price (2 marks)
c) Highest Total Price (2 marks)
d) Grand Total Price (2 marks)
iii) If the Leavers made a contribution of 1500000 as indicated in the
worksheet, use a formula to calculate the balance to remain after all the
purchases (2 marks)

iv) Use the IF() function to display comments as “High Price” if the item’s
price is 10000 and above, “Normal Price” if the item’s price is above 5000
and “Low Price” if the item’s price is 5000 and below (2 marks)

v) Create a pie chart based on Items against Price fields showing labels and
price variation in percentages (2 marks)

vi) Put your full name and index number as a footer (1 mark)

vii) Save your work as Your Name – Leavers Budget (1 mark)

Attempt only two questions in this section

2. A sales company gives its products to different salesmen to market the

products around the country. The company uses two tables, one to record
details of salesmen and another table is used to record the products given to
salesmen for marketing. Design a database called Your Name – Marketing
and within this database you will design two tables called Salesmen and
Products. (8 marks)

Required:
i) Create the relationship of your two designed tables (4 marks)
ii) Enter data in both tables (4 marks)
iii) Create a form based on Product table using ProdName, Quantity, Price
and a calculated TotalPrice. Name your form as Total Price. (4 marks)
iv) Create a query based Products table showing only Tooth Paste. Name
your query as Tooth Query (4 marks)
v) Create a query based on both tables to display only employees whose
products’ price is above 4000. Include only FirstName, ProdName,
Quantity and Price fields. Name your query as Price above 4000
(4 marks)
vi) Create a report based on Products table showing all the fields grouped by
EmployeeNo. Name your report as Final Report (2 marks)

4. You are tasked to prepare a presentation about computer literacy in your
society using the simplest language. Your presentation should include the
following:

SLIDE I:
The title of the Presentation and the name of the presenter (1 mark)

SLIDE II:
The simple definition of Computer and Computer literacy. (4 marks)

SLIDE III:
A list outlining various roles of a computer (5 marks)

SLIDE IV
A list outlining challenges of having computers in our society (5 marks)

SLIDE V
A list of peripheral devices with brief description of the role played by each
device (5 marks)

SLIDE VI
A list outlining how to take care of computer laboratory (5 marks)
Use few appropriate clip art gallery to illustrate some of the slides (2 marks)
Use minimal animation effects (2 marks)
Save you’re presentation as Your Name – Literacy (1 mark)

5. Design a website for your school. In this website you should include the
following:
i) The homepage having a brief background history about your school
(5 marks)
ii) Include the hyperlinks that can enable you to link to other four pages
(2 marks)
iii) The first page should present the information about the administration
(5 marks)
iv) The second page should present the information about the departments
and various subject taught in the school (5 marks)
v) The third page should present about the various clubs that are available
in school (5 marks)
vi) The fourth page should present details about various sport activities
available in the school (5 marks)
vii) Your visitors should be able to link back to the homepage (3 marks)
