C. DISCUSSION

“Our activity has something to do

with our lesson for today.

Today we are going to discuss the

principles of speech delivery

There are several principles principles

of Speech Delivery which an effective
speaker needs to follow:
1. Articulation
refers to the clear pronunciation or
diction and speech which is very
essential in effectively transmitting
the message.

Ma’am, you are able

Based on your own understanding to pronounce words
what is articulation? correctly.

Great! What is the importance of

being articulate in delivering a
speech?
“Ma’am in order to
become an effective
speaker”
Nice! When speaker’s words cannot
be understood because of poor
articulation, the speech might as well
not have been delivered at all.
2. Modulation

Modulation refers to the capability of

the vocal tone to adjust to the
resonance and timbre of the voice.

Based on your understanding what is

Modulation

Exactly! It is how we use proper rate,

“Ma’am,it is how
pitch, and volume in speech delivery.
you manage or
Under modulation are the following:
control your voice
a. Pitch – it refers to the highness when you are
or lowness of the voice delivering a speech.

b. Rate – it is the speed or pace at

which the person speaks.

c. Quality – it refers to the timbre of

the voice. It is the distinguishing
characteristic of the voice.

d. Volume – it is the loudness or

softness of the voice.

What do you think is the importance

of modulation in delivering a
speech?
Very good! If the speaker produces
a well- modulated
voice, the audience will pay
attention to every detail he/she will say
will be sent and received clearly

3. Stage Presence

It refers to the ability of the speaker “ Ma’am you will

to “own the stage,” meaning to be catch the attention
able to fill the space and project of your audience
his/her personality to the audience. or listeners.

Based on your own understanding

what is stage presence?

Brilliant! Stage presence is

achieved through the speaker’s
charisma, confidence and credibility.

“ If the speakers’ have the ability to

own the stage, he or she will be able
to deliver his or her speech Ma’am, you are
victoriously.” confident, or you
4. Facial expression, gestures, have the ability to
and movements catch the attendance

It is not just the choice of words and of everyone.

the proper pronunciation that make
you an effective speaker and make a
successful speech delivery.

The message of the speech is being

reinforced by the facial
expressions, gestures
and movements of the speaker.
a. Facial expressions have
something to do with emphasizing
your
emotions.
b. Gestures – a movement of the
hand, arms, or other body part that is
intended to indicate or emphasize
something.

c. Movements – it refers to
purposeful movement on stage
during speech delivery.

If you are delivering a speech it is

not necessary to stay in one place, it
is also okay to move around.

5. Audience Rapport

It refers to how well you connect

with the audience.

A speaker must know how to build

rapport with his/her audience in
order to build mutual
understanding.

What do you think is the importance

of audience rapport?

Great! When we have the ability to

build audience rapport, we are able
to build trust and mutual
understanding.

D. ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY

students and let them do the observation as
to the strength and weaknesses of the
speaker using a Table.

WEAKNESSES
STRENGTHS “ Ma’am audience
rapport will build
trust and
understanding
between the
listeners and the
speaker.
