E. Science Concepts:
1. Hurricane – a tropical cyclone is a system of thunderstorms that are
moving around a center.
2. Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) – an area in the northwestern
pacific where PAGASA, the Philippines’ national meteorological
agency monitors weather occurrences.
3. Super Typhoon – the wind speed is greater than 200 kilometers per
hour (kph).
4. Tropical Depression – when the wind speed is between 35 to 64 kph
5. Tropical Storm – the wind speed is between 65 and 118 kph.
6. Typhoon – an extremely large, powerful, and destructive storm that
occurs especially in the region of the Philippine or the China Sea. It
has a wind speed of 119 to 200 kph.

Activity 4: I Am Ready!
Directions: In a span of 5 minutes, prepare a survival kit or bag that is
ready for any kinds of disaster such as typhoon. When the time is up, students
will share what they have prepared.
