Decision-Making Process for Resolving Wi-Fi Issues at Work

In a modern workplace, where the company provides Wi-Fi services (such as Link3) to employees
for seamless work-from-home operations, many have reported Wi-Fi connection issues that have
impacted their productivity. To address this, the IT manager must follow a structured decision-
making process.

Step 1: Identify the Problem

The problem is the unreliable Wi-Fi connections that multiple employees experience, hindering
their ability to work e ectively.

Step 2: Identify Decision Criteria

The IT manager must establish key criteria to guide the decision. These include improving
connection stability, cost e ciency, ease of implementation, and long-term reliability.

Step 3: Allocate Weights to the Criteria

Next, the IT manager assigns importance to each criterion. For instance, connection stability may
carry the most weight, followed by cost and ease of implementation.

Step 4: Develop Alternatives

The IT manager then proposes solutions, such as upgrading the internet plan, switching
providers, adding routers or extenders, or providing technical support for troubleshooting.

Step 5: Analyze Alternatives

Each alternative is analyzed based on the weighted criteria. For example, upgrading the plan may
enhance stability but increase costs, while adding routers could improve coverage but take longer
to implement.

Step 6: Select an Alternative

The IT manager selects the best solution after evaluation. A balanced option might involve
upgrading the internet plan and distributing Wi-Fi extenders to employees with coverage issues.

Step 7: Implement the Alternative

The selected solution is then implemented, which may involve upgrading the service, installing
additional hardware, or providing technical support.

Step 8: Evaluate Decision E ectiveness

Finally, the IT manager gathers employee feedback to determine if the Wi-Fi issues have been
resolved. If further problems arise, additional adjustments can be made.

By following this decision-making process, the IT manager can e ectively resolve Wi-Fi issues,
improving employee productivity.
