Process of Making Decisions to Fix Wi-Fi Problems at Work

Many workers in a modern workplace where the employer o ers Wi-Fi services (like Link3) to
enable smooth work-from-home operations have complained about Wi-Fi connectivity problems
that have negatively impacted their productivity. The IT manager needs to use an organised
decision-making process to deal with this.

Step 1: Identify the Problem

The issue is that several employees' erratic Wi-Fi connections make it di cult for them to do their
jobs well.

Step 2: Identify Decision Criteria

To help with the decision-making process, the IT manager must set important criteria. Increasing
connection stability, economy, simplicity of use, and long-term dependability are a few of these.

Step 3: Allocate Weights to the Criteria

The IT manager then ranks each criterion according to priority. For example, the most important
factor might be connection stability, which is followed by cost and implementation simplicity.

Step 4: Develop Alternatives

The IT manager then proposes solutions, such as upgrading the internet plan, switching
providers, adding routers or extenders, or providing technical support for troubleshooting.

Step 5: Analyze Alternatives

Each alternative is analyzed based on the weighted criteria. For example, upgrading the plan may
enhance stability but increase costs, while adding routers could improve coverage but take longer
to implement.

Step 6: Select an Alternative

The IT manager identi es the most e ective solution following a thorough assessment. A well-
rounded choice could include enhancing the internet plan and providing Wi-Fi extenders to
employees who experience coverage problems.

Step 7: Implement the Alternative

The chosen solution is put into action, which could include enhancing the service, adding new
hardware, or o ering technical assistance.

Step 8: Evaluate Decision E ectiveness

Finally, the IT manager gathers employee feedback to determine if the Wi-Fi issues have been
resolved. If further problems arise, additional adjustments can be made.

After following this decision-making process, the IT manager can resolve Wi-Fi issues and can
also improve employee productivity.
