Decision-Making Process for Resolving Wi Issues at Work

In a modern workplace, the company has provided Wi-Fi services (such as Link3) to all
employees, enabling them to work from home smoothly. However, many employees have
reported problems with their Wi-Fi connection, which has a ected their productivity. These issues
were brought to the attention of the IT manager, who now needs to address the situation by
following a structured decision-making process.

1.Identifying the Problem: The rst step for the IT manager is to clearly de ne the issue, which in
this case is the unreliable Wi-Fi connections experienced by multiple employees.

2. Gathering Information: The IT manager collects data regarding the speci c nature of the Wi-Fi
problems. This may include reports on connectivity speed, geographical inconsistencies, or any
patterns in the failures that are being encountered.

3. Developing Alternatives: Once the problem has been fully understood, the IT manager develops
various potential solutions. These alternatives might include upgrading the current service plan,
switching to a di erent provider, or providing additional technical equipment like routers or Wi-Fi
extenders.

4. Evaluating the Alternatives: Each of the alternatives must be carefully evaluated. For example,
upgrading the service plan might increase bandwidth but could also raise costs, while providing
additional hardware might x coverage issues in certain locations but not others.

5. Choosing the Best Alternative: After evaluating all options, the IT manager selects the solution
that best balances cost, e ectiveness, and ease of implementation.

6. Implementing the Decision: The chosen solution is then put into action. This could involve
rolling out new equipment to employees, negotiating with the internet provider, or initiating a
service upgrade.

7. Monitoring and Follow-up: Finally, the IT manager needs to follow up with employees to ensure
that the implemented solution has resolved their connectivity issues. If problems persist, further
adjustments may be needed.

By following this structured approach, the IT manager ensures that the Wi-Fi issues are resolved,
allowing all employees to continue working e ciently from home.
