CONTENT STANDARD : 8.1 THE ABILITY OF MATERIALS TO ABSORB WATER
LEARNING STANDARD: 8.1.3 Describe the ability of objects to absorb water based on types of materials through
investigations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: 1. Arrange in sequence the ability of objects to absorb water based on types of materials.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to arrange the sequence the ability objects to absorb water based on types of materials
correctly.
TEACHING : Activity 1. 3 pupils will be selected to play the character in the class.
ACTIVITIES : 1 2. A) situation : there was water spilled on the table in the classroom.
Charaster 1 : Wipe water using tissue
Character 2 : Wipe water using cloth
Character 3 : Wipe water using newspaper
3. Pupils will be asked “What is the best materials for wiping water?
: Activity 1. Pupils are divided into 5 groups.
2 2. Each group are given tools and materials. ( a stick, glue, coloured paper, cloth,
newspaper and kitchen paper)
3. The newspaper, kitchen paper and cloth are cut into strips of the same size.
4. The strips was glue onto a stick.
5. The ends of the strips will dip into a beaker containing coloured water and leave it for
one minute.
6. The pupils should observe the water level absorbed by the 3 objects.
7. Pupils will record the objects according to their ability to absorb water based on types of
materials by using “flow map” sheet .
: Activity Pupils answer the questions in the activity book related to the topic they have learned.

SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to solve problems by applying knowledge about the ability of materials to absorb water by
designing object.
TEACHING : Activity 1. Pupils are shown with examples of tools that apply science principles related to absorptions topics.
ACTIVITIES : 1 2. Pupils will be asked what the main use of each of the tools such as umbrella, mop, handkerchief
and cloth.
: Activity 1. Pupils are divided into 5 groups to create a mini mop. (TB page 78 and 79)
2 2. Pupils cut the string into 5 pieces.
3. Pupils tie up the middle of the strings using a piece of thread.
4. Then, pupils pull off the back of apen and remove its content. Pupils insert one end of the thread
and take it out from the nozzle.
5. A string is tie to the nozzle of the pen using a rubber band and covers it with the pen cover. To get
the good result, separate the strings.
6. The most beautiful and creative mini mop will be the winner
