BASIC Freight Forwarder: also known as Forwarder (FWD) for short... is a
term that refers to a person (or company) working in the forwarding

DEFINITION profession: focusing on the main areas of international transportation


(air, sea) + Customs clearance services + domestic transportation
(containers, trucks)...

BASIC Door to door shipping is from the export warehouse to the
import warehouse

DEFINITION Door to port shipping is from the export warehouse to the import
port
Port to port shipping is from the export port to the import port

+Type of movement: Delivery method
*FCL/FCL; CY/CY: Receive the entire container at the export yard and
deliver the entire container at the import yard.

BASIC *LCL/LCL; CFS/CFS: Receive goods at the export CFS warehouse and
deliver goods at the import CFS warehouse.
DEFINITION *LCL/FCL; CFS/CY: (Consolidation) Receive LCL shipments packed into
CFS warehouse and then consolidate into 1 whole container for export.

*FCL/LCL; CY/CFS: (Undivided) Receive the whole container at the


export yard and divide the whole container into lots
Retail goods imported at CFS.

PROCESS AND
BASIC COSTS FOR
SHIPPING
CONTAINERS
S1: Shipper and consignee sign all international sales contracts
S2: Shipper collects goods for enough goods
S3: The shipper places a booking with forwarder to get an empty container
S4: Pull the container to the warehouse for packing (or packing at the port)
S5: Unload the container at CY (cont yard) + do customs procedures
S6: Goods are boarded and transported by sea to the destination port
S7: Shipper completes the set of financial and commercial documents and sends
them to consignee for payment
S8: Ship arrives at destination port
S9: Consignee to do customs clearance
S10: Customs clearance goods, pick up the container onto the truck, drag it to the
warehouse and return the empty container

- Loading and unloading fee at shipper's warehouse
- Trucking fee from warehouse shipper to POL, lifting
- POL customs clearance fees, export tax
- Local charge at POL

- POD customs procedures, import tax
- Lifting and trucking fee from POD to Cnee warehouse
- Unloading fee at cnee warehouse
- Return empty containers to POD (vs and repair containers if any)
