What is cladding ?

In the context of steel cladding, the outer layer is made of steel

panels or sheets. These steel sheets can be attached to the
primary structure of a building, such as the exterior walls or
roof, to achieve several objectives such as:

1- Weather protection: Steel cladding acts as a protective barrier

against weather elements, including rain, snow, wind, and sunlight. It
helps prevent moisture penetration and protects the underlying
structure from corrosion.
2- Durability: Steel is known for its strength and durability. By using
steel cladding, the exterior of a building can withstands harsh
environmental conditions and resist deterioration over time.
3- Insulation: Some steel cladding systems incorporate insulation
materials, contributing to the building's thermal performance. This
helps in maintaining a comfortable interior temperature and reducing
energy consumption for heating or cooling.
4- Fire resistance: Steel is inherently fire-resistant, and using
steel cladding can enhance a building's fire resistance. This is
especially important in areas with stringent fire safety
regulations.
5- Ease of Maintenance: Steel cladding is often chosen for
its low maintenance requirements. It is resistant to rot, pests,
and decay, and cleaning or repainting can be relatively
straightforward.
Types of cladding
1-Corrugated sheet
Galvanized corrugated sheet is also called profiled sheet.
Corrugated board is suitable for industrial and civil
buildings, warehouses, special buildings, roofs, walls and
interior and exterior wall decoration of large-span steel
structure houses. It has the characteristics of light weight,
high strength, rich colour, convenient and quick
construction, earthquake resistance, fire prevention, rain
resistance, long life, maintenance-free.

2-Sandwich panel
Sandwich panels are a modular building material
designed to cover buildings and structures. These
panels consist of two layers that form the outer
structure and ensure form, weather resistance
and rigidity. They contain a core that provides
thermal and acoustic insulation properties.
Dimensions: 3-6 m
Thickness: between 40 and 150-200 mm
Type: micro profile, linear, corrugated, smooth, stamped, and sinusoid
Width: usually 1.000mm in some models it’s 1.150 mm
Application: roofs and facades of
industrial buildings that process at low
temperatures. Due to their lightness, they are
ideal for renovating enclosures. They are also
effective in the insulation of cold rooms and
warehouses, in sports centres and shopping
centres and in homes, both new and renovated.
3- Poly carbonite steel

warehouse and family house, Roofing/wall of business commercial
buildings Advertising and decoration

4-tent cladding
"Tent cladding" typically refers to the outer covering or material
used to enclose and protect the structure of a tent. Tents are
temporary shelters that come in various shapes and sizes, and
their cladding serves several important functions.
Weather Protection: Tent cladding is designed to provide a
protective barrier against weather elements such as rain, wind,
snow, and sunlight. The choice of cladding material can impact
the tent's ability to withstand different weather conditions.
Durability: The cladding material needs to be durable to
ensure the longevity of the tent. Common materials for tent
cladding include canvas, polyester, nylon, or specialized fabrics
that are resistant to tearing and abrasion.
Water Resistance: Many tent cladding materials are treated to
be water-resistant or waterproof, preventing rainwater from
penetrating the tent and keeping the interior dry.
Insulation: In certain types of tents, especially those used in
colder climates, the cladding may provide insulation to help
maintain a comfortable temperature inside the tent. This is
important for camping in varying weather conditions.
UV Resistance: UV-resistant coatings or materials may be used
in tent cladding to protect occupants from the harmful effects
of prolonged sun exposure.
Ventilation: Some tent designs incorporate breathable or
ventilated cladding to ensure proper air circulation inside the
tent, preventing condensation and maintaining a comfortable
environment.
Aesthetics: The appearance of the tent is also influenced by the
choice of cladding material. Tents used for events, exhibitions,
or glamping often feature aesthetically pleasing and
customizable cladding.
The specific type of tent cladding can vary based on the
intended use of the tent, whether it's for camping, events,
military purposes, or other applications. It's important to
consider factors such as climate, expected conditions, and the
durability required for the intended use when selecting tent
cladding.
And it’s dimensions depends on the steel structure itself the
main idea is to cover the whole structure with the fabric eather
it’s cotton or canvas

6- glass sheets
what is glass cladding ?
Glass cladding is a widely used technique in architecture where
glass panes are used on the exterior surface of buildings.
Mainly, there are two types: curtain walling and rainscreen
cladding.

First, curtain walling is a non-structural cladding system for the

exterior of a structure. This type involves a lightweight
aluminium frame that’s attached to a building skeleton onto
which glass panels can be fixed. Curtain walling is common in
large, multi-story developments and prevents any weather from
penetrating into the complex.

On the other hand, rainscreen is sometimes referred to as a

drained or a pressure-equalised facade. As part of a double-
wall arrangement, the outer layer prevents considerable
amounts of water from seeping into the wall construction. On
the contrary, the inner leaf provides thermal insulation.
what the glass cladding used for?

1- To provide thermal insulation. Helps take some of the load

off a HVAC system.
2- To provide weather resistance. Protects a building from the
elements.
3- To improve a structure’s aesthetics. Helps provide a modern
look.
4- To provide sound insulation. When located in a busy street, it
can help keep some of the noise away.
5- To create a facade. Enhances the design of a structure.
6- For lighting. Allows access to daylight.
What Are the Advantages of Glass Cladding?
1- It’s an energy saver

By allowing light even when you close your windows and doors,
glass reduces the need for artificial lighting. Likewise, during
hot months, glass cladding can prevent heat from building up
indoors hence lowering your cooling costs.
2- Aesthetics

A glass cladding adds visual appeal and sophistication to a

structure. You can have a breathtaking design that makes a
building stand out, and then glass complements it with a touch
of uniqueness and beauty.
3- It enhances wellbeing

As a transparent material, glass creates a feeling of openness

and harmony by allowing users to connect with the outdoors.
Also, a glass cladding brightens up a room and enhances the
beauty of a space.
4- It’s easy to maintain

A glass cladding is ideal for commercial buildings. The smooth

and glossy surface works best in both wet and dry
environments without the need for regular maintenance.
5- It’s light and strong

Glass doesn’t increase the dead load of a building the way

stone would. This makes it ideal for high rise steel structures.

6- It saves time

Unlike concrete that requires adequate curing time,

prefabricated panels can be installed quickly and easily.
Consequently, this helps speed up the construction process.
7- It’s weather-resistant

Glass cladding can withstand the effects of sun, rain and

wind without losing it’s appearance and integrity.
8- It’s rust-resistant

Unlike steel which is highly prone to rust once exposed to

moisture and oxygen, glass is rust resistant. In other words,
glass doesn’t react to weather changes such as rain unlike
other materials.

7-Stone cladding
Stone cladding is a thin layer of stone that applied to the
interior or exterior of a property. It is used to create a
textured appearance to a property. Stone cladding on the
outside of a property will give the impression that the building
is made entirely of stone.
Commonly, stone cladding is used in the garden as a
walling solution. It works well to enhance a garden space
and outdoor area.
Stone cladding will either be thin pieces of cut stone such
as marble or slate, or it will be fabricated sheets that look
like a slice of stone wall. To install stone cladding you
attach the sheet of stone to the interior or exterior of
your building.
There are lots of different looks that can be achieved by
the variations of styles. Stone cladding can be made of
brick for example, marble and slate are popular options
too.
How and Why You Should Choose Stone Cladding
Panels
Here at Prime Thorpe Paving we feel that stone
cladding isn’t just a great way of improving the look of the
outside of your home. There are lots of ways that stone
cladding can be used to add visual interest to the interior
and exterior of your home too. Fireplaces with stone
cladding in and around the fireplace are a popular home
improvement too. It means you can have a beautiful stone
fireplace, without having to pull the old fireplace out and
install a new one.

There are many advantages that stone cladding has over

stone construction. For example, stone cladding allows you
to create an exterior that looks like it was built of stone, but
with only a fraction of the weight. This means the structure
of your home does not need to be built in a certain way to
support the weight of the real stone. In fact, stone cladding
can often be installed to existing structures without too
much concern over the added weight.

When a stone structure is not possible, stone cladding gives

you the look and style you want to achieve. You can build a
brand-new home with all the modern advancements of
insulation and energy conservation, while still creating a
home that looks old, quaint and traditional. You also
remove the stress and effort of carting full sized stones to
your home. Stone cladding has all the same visual benefits,
without the hassle.

Building with stone can be extremely expensive. The savings

when you opt for stone cladding instead reach beyond just
the cost of the materials. You will save on transportation
and installation costs too. Our stone cladding options give
you the opportunity to have an expensive looking structure
without paying a fortune.

Types of stones: sandstone, lime stone ,granite ,slate wall

cladding and so on

Cleaning Your Stone Wall Cladding

It’s important to remember that different stones have
different properties. This means that they need to be
cleaned in different ways.

For example, sandstone wall cladding should be washed

with a sponge and a mild cleaning agent. We would always
recommend that you avoid hard brushes or harsh chemicals
as these can damage the sandstone cladding.
Meanwhile, limestone cladding quickly absorbs water. This
means it can be prone to stains. If you notice any potential
spots or stains, we would recommend it is cleaned
immediately with a mild and acid-free detergent.

Granite is a popular option for wall cladding too. It can be

washed with universal cleaning agents. If you have more
prominent impurities, we would recommend cleaning it with
extraction gasoline.

Finally, a slate wall cladding should be cleaned using a soft

cloth with dishwashing liquid diluted in water. We would
recommend you avoid hard brushes as this will reduce the
risk is any scratched being caused to the surface.

When it comes to selecting the right type of cladding for your

steel frame building, you must assess what the building is being
used for. Some of the most popular types of steel
building cladding that you can choose from are insulated or non-
insulated single skin steel cladding sheets.

in the last it’s important to choose the perfect cladding that

fit your project to maintain the best advantage of the
cladding.
