Purposive Communication is a three-unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their
cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively
and appropriately to a multicultural audience in a local or global context. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety
COURSE DESCRIPTION of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to emphasize the importance of conveying
messages responsibly. The knowledge, skills, and insights that students gain from this course may be used in their other
academic endeavors, their chosen disciplines, and their future careers as they compose and produce relevant oral, written and audio-
visual and/or web-based output for various purposes.
At the end of the course, the pre-service teachers should be able to:

II. MAJOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS:


1. Students are required to make a reflection paper on the given topics.
2. Students are mandated to have their writing outputs to demonstrate their understanding and proficiency in expressing concepts related to the course material.
3. Students are required to take major examinations to assess their comprehension and mastery of the course content, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of
their academic performance.
4. Students are required to articulate and verbally present their understanding of the subject matter, fostering effective communication skills and active
engagement in the learning process.

III. EVALUATION CRITERIA:
Quizzes/ Performance - 40%
Assignment/Projects- 20%
Major Examination- 40%
Total 100%

IV. COURSE POLICIES:


1. Participation is required in every class meeting. No one gets a passing grade with attendance alone.
2. The use of technology in the class is encouraged to aid learning. Responsible use of such is advised.
3. Plagiarized output shall not be accepted.
4. Students’ punctuality in class meetings and timeliness in submitting outputs are paramount.
5. Failure to submit the required outputs on the specified dates results in denial of submission.
6. No special examination will be given except for valid reasons, as the student manual stipulates.
7. INC will be given to students who are with passing performance and failed to submit major requirements.
8. Flexible learning delivery mode shall only be granted for some students (e.g., incurred absences due to birthing, or hospitalization) upon approval sought from
the Dean.
9. Late submissions shall incur a points deduction based on the provided scoring rubric.
