So, what problems did you solve?

Very good! Rate, Base, and Percentage, teacher.

Today we are going to learn about Identify the

base, rate, and percentage in a problem.

B. Modelling/ I do

So, for you to be able to identify the base, rate,

and percentage in a problem, you need to know
first what is base, rate, and percentage.

Rate - is the number with the percent % sign. It is

given as percent. It can be expressed as a ratio or
as a fraction.

Base - is the number that usually follows the

phrase "percent of". It is the whole of which you
take percent.

Percentage - It is the result obtained when a

number is multiplied by a percent.

Now, how can we identify the base, percentage,

and rate?
We can identify the base, percentage, and rate
using the Techan's Triangle.

We can also write:

45% of 120 = 54

Rate

Base

Percentage

Another example:

Jun deposited ₱1,800 in a bank. After a year, his

money earned ₱90 which is 5% of his initial
deposit.

We can also write it as 5% of 1800 is 90.

Rate = 5%

Base = 1800

Percentage= 90

Again, how can we identify the base, percentage,

and rate?
We can identify the base, percentage, and rate by
using Techan's Triangle.
