Introductory Activity word puzzle: the students will work by group, they form the words out from the given letters
(5 minutes) written in cut-out papers.
From the word they formed in the introductory activity, they give meaning, related words
Activity
(10 minutes)
through group discussions.
Questions:
1. What is your feeling upon doing the activity?
Analysis 2. What is the equation for momentum?
(5 minutes) 3. What is the meaning of the term conservation in physics?
Interactive discussion:
•Mass- a quantity or aggregate of matter usually of considerable size
• Momentum is the product of mass and velocity
Momentum equation: p = mv
Example:
Compute the momentum of a 20-kg dog running westward with a velocity of 2.5 m/s
Abstraction
Solution:
(15 minutes)
Given: m= 20kg v = 2.5 m/s
p= (20kg) (2.5m/s)
p= 50 kg m/s
•Law of conservation of energy states that “ energy can neither be created nor
destroyed; but can be change from one form to another.
Each group will give 3 sample situations where conservation of energy applied.
Application
