RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

3.1 RESEACH DESIGN

This chapter discussed the research design and methodology

used for the study the chapter is discussed under the

following sub-headings.

3.1 RESEARCH DESIGN

Research design employed for this study is descriptive

survey research. Survey research is an attempt to document

existing situation attitude based on information collected

directly from the people involved.


3.2 POPULATION OF THE STUDY

The area chosen for this research is Katagum Local

Government. The target population or this study are

communities of Katagum Local Government. The population

of Katagum Local government is 295,970 (NPC 2006). It has

three districts i.e., Azare, Chinade, and Madara

3.3 SAMPLE SIZE AND SAMPLING PROCEDURE

The sample size of the study was draw from families,

education Admnisitrators, mallams, Almajiri and others.

However, the sample size for this study consists of 125


people. 40 people were sampled from Madara and Chinade

each while 45 were sampled from Azare. The simple random

sampling was used as a procedure for sampling.

3.4 INSTRUMENT FOR DATA COLLECTION

For the purpose of this study, a self-designed question was

used for data collection. The questionnaire is divided into

two sections. Section A and B, the section A is concerned

with penal data of the respondents (biodata) section B was

used in answering the research question. It has 4 sub-

sections with a total of 22 items based on modified Likert


scale on strongly Agree (SA) Agree (A) Disagree (D) Strongly

Disagreed (SD).

3.5 PROCEDURE FOR DATA COLLECTION

The research administered the questionnaire to the sampled

people in the various districts of the local government. One

week was used for the administration and collection of the

questionnaire.

3.6 PROCEDURE FOR DATA ANALYSIS

The data collected for this research work was analyzed using

descriptive statistics of frequency and mean.
