BADMINTON
UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULT WORDS:
• Racket - this is light and fragile equipment used in hitting the
shuttlecock and it’s much smaller than the one used in lawn
tennis.
• Shuttlecock - this is used to hit by the Racket and usually made of
Cork and Feathers about 14-16 pieces and weighs 5 grams.
• Net - used to divide the badminton court into 2 equal halves and
stretched across the middle of the court from post to post with
the height of 5 feet and with the depth of 2.5/2.6 feet mesh and a
shuttlecock must be passing over.
• Court - the playing area where a badminton game is held. The
surface should be smooth but not slippery.
ORIGIN OF BADMINTON
- The game is originated in India and was called
“Poona”. But British army officer was fascinated
in the game and brought it in their country state
which is at Badminton, Gloucestershire, where
the sport derived its present name.
WHAT IS BADMINTON?

- Badminton is a sport for (2) two (singles) or for (4) four


(doubles) player in which long-handled rackets are used
to hit a shuttlecock over a net stretched across a marked
court.

• This is used to be hit by the racket.
