Volume is the amount of space within a three-dimensional object. The SI unit for volume is the cubic meter. Volume can be measured for regular solids using formulas based on their dimensions. For example, the volume of a cuboid is length x width x height, while the volume of a cylinder is π x radius2 x height. To find the volume of compound solids, they must first be separated into recognizable component solids, then the volume of each component is calculated and summed.

VOLUME

 Volume is the amount of space within a three-dimensional object.

 The SI unit for volume is cubic meter( . However, volume can be measured in other units such

as cubic centimeter, gallon and cubic inch.

 Most of the time, volume is measured in , especially for small objects.

Examples of regular solids include cuboid, cube, cylinder, sphere, cone, prism and pyramid. The

volumes of regular solids may be determined from formulae.

COMPOUND SOLIDS
Step 1: Separate the compound solid into solids you can recognize.

Step 2: Find any unknown dimensions – length, height or width .

Step 3: Find the volume for each of the distinct solids that make up the compound solids.
