Objective: 1. To acquaint the students about the law of land
2. To know about the rights and duties of the individual in constitution
3. To understand the structure of executive, legislature and Judiciary
4. To learn about the Emergency provisions and amendments
Outline:
Module 1:
To understand the concept and need of Indian constitution: 1.The necessity of the constitution, the societies
before and after the adoption of constitution
2. Introduction to the constitution, making of the constitution.
3. Role of constituent Assembly
4. Preamble and salient features of Indian Constitution
Module 2:
To understand : 1. Fundamental rights, its restriction and limitation.
2.The significance and relevance of Directive principles of state policy
3.Significance and scope of fundamental duties.
Module 3 :
To understand the structure of Indian government : 1. The Union Executive - The
President, the prime minster and union cabinet.
2. The union Parliament- LokSabha and RajyaSabha.
3. Parliamentary committee, important parliamentary terminologies.
4. To know the function of judiciary system (supreme court of India)
5. Judicial review and Judicial activism.
Module 4.
To know about 1.The election commission of India- its powers, functions and
process in India.
2. State executive and Emergency provisions.
3. Importance of Constitutional amendments, amendments till today.
Module 5: Professional Ethics
Ethics & values, Types of Ethics. Scope and aim of professional and Engineering Ethics. Positive and negative
faces of Engineering Ethics, Clash of ethics, Conflicts of Interest. The impediments to Responsibility. Trust and
reliability of Engineering. IPRs (intellectual property Rights), Risks, Safety and liability in Engineering.

• Course objective:
Law is referred as the subject of the social science, it is a set of rules and
regulation created and are enforced by government.
Introduction of constitutional law is aimed to familiarize the students with the law
by enriching their understanding of the multi-faced role of law and to acquaint, train and
equip students with a comprehensive knowledge of law, its origin, source and
foundation.
Constitutional law basically enables the students to have an insight into the legal
principles and their role in the society. To realize the significance of constitution of india
and to understand what a constitution is and why it is necessary.
Module 1 of the constitution basically deals with 1.The necessity of the constitution,
how societies was before and after the adoption of constitution

3. What is the role of constituent assembly, head of the constituent assembly and how
many constituent assembly are there in India The preamble of the constitution is the
short statement in the beginning of the constitution which stated the basic values of the
constitution

government of the India for the governance of the country.
