Application Review and Selection

  1. Every application submitted is reviewed to determine if it meets the MHA admission requirements. Applicants whose personal statement and materials provide evidence of good fit will be forwarded on to the admissions committee.
  2. Upon review, applicants who are recommended for the next round are invited to campus to interview with a panel of faculty and alumni. Interviews are required as a part o the admission process.

  • Let us learn more about you and your career goals
  • You learn more about the UK MHA Program
  • How the UK MHA will prepare you for future employment and to be a healthcare change agent

How to prepare

  • Research The University of Kentucky, College of Public Health, Department of Health management and Policy and the MHA Program.
  • Be familiar with the healthcare options in Lexington.
  • Be ready to speak to how you will contribute to the MHA Program, your interests in healthcare (beyond what you shared in the personal statement) and be aware of current challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector.
  • Business attire is required
  • Practice sharing your story before the interview with friends, mentors, and/or family

Interviews

2022-2023 MHA Interview Dates (depending on the number of applications additional dates may be added)

  • December 2nd (in-person)
  • December 7th (virtual)
  • December 9th (in-person)
  • December 19th (virtual)
  • January 11th (in-person weather permitting, could switch to virtual)

On-campus interviews – interviewing is a requirement of admission.

Benefits of on-campus interviews

  • On campus interviews provide the student with the opportunity to explore all UK and Lexington has to offer
  • Prospective students will meet current students, go on a tour, and meet faculty & staff
  • The UK campus is beautiful and full of resources for students
  • On-campus is highly recommended – especially for students within 250 miles on the UK campus
  • If you are unable to make it to campus you can choose the virtual option. It will not negatively impact your consideration.
