HR Coordinator

“I’ve learned that you must trust yourself in work and in life, even if you’re making a big decision like I did to move across the country.”

What to expect

You’ll never forget your career at Big Bend. With endless ways for you to do what you love, you can spend your days exploring your passions and time off exploring the natural wonders around you. Our ideal teammate is flexible, personally invested in the success of the organization and park, has a positive attitude, and loves our natural setting. We’re a close-knit community who does what it takes to get the job done and motivated to provide great experiences for our guests. For a minimal cost, we have housing and meals available for our teammates, along with free activities so that you can make the most of your time here!
  • What can I do on my time off and are there organized activities?

Sometimes considered “three parks in one,” Big Bend includes mountainous, desert, and river environments. There are over 200 miles of hiking trails throughout Big Bend National Park. Free ranger programs are offered daily during the busy season and include hikes and presentations about geology, animals, night sky, and more. Speaking of the night skies, Big Bend has some of the darkest in the country – perfect for stargazing.

Employees can take free river, Jeep, or ATV excursions through Far Flung Outdoor Center and Overland Tours. Photography, birding, hiking, reading, and writing are some of the popular activities among current staff.

Several day trips to town are offered to staff each year. Study Butte and Terlingua have restaurants and bars for staff to enjoy their free time.

  • Where can I go shopping or get essential items?

There is a convenience store in the basin that offers basic grocery items, hygiene products, and souvenirs for a discounted price. The nearest towns of Terlingua and Study Butte have a small grocery store and a handful of restaurants. For larger grocery stores, hardware stores, and convenience stores, you’ll have to drive nearly two hours to Alpine or Fort Stockton. We offer transportation as much as possible for employees to and from.

  • Is there cell phone and internet access?

Cell service is available in the park, but is better in some areas than others and can also very based on provider. Most employees have said AT&T offers the best coverage for the area. Wi-fi is also available at a cost for employees.

  • Are there appearance guidelines?

We require all of team members to maintain a professional appearance, including the practice of good hygiene. This includes hair being combed and pulled back. We provide a company shirt, and most employees tend to pair it with jeans or outdoor pants/shorts. Non-slip shoes are required, and we can help an employee order those if needed.

  • Is housing available and what is it like?

Limited housing is available for a minimal cost per day for employees at operations throughout the property, and we offer full RV spots as they become available.

We have single wide trailers and rooms that 2-4 employees share. All housing includes a kitchen area, living room, washer, dryer, and bathroom. Most kitchens also have a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker provided.

  • Do you hire international applicants?

Aramark is proud to partner with J-1 Visa sponsor programs. Interested international applicants should apply directly with their host country sponsor to begin the process.

  • Where can I buy or make food?

We offer an employee menu with discounted meals, and all housing units have kitchens available, as many of our teammates cook.

The town of Terlingua, TX, about a 30-minute drive from the west side of the park. includes a small grocery story and several local restaurants. The closest place to find fast food is in Alpine, about two hours away. Alpine also has two grocery stores. A super Wal-Mart is located further away in Fort Stockton. Many employees will go to to town together to pick up groceries.

  • What is the best way to get to property? What transportation options are there?

If you are driving from Alpine, TX, take Highway 118 to Study Butte and continue to the park entrance. If you’re coming from Presidio, take Highway 170 to Study Butte and continue to the park. Additionally, you can take US Highway 90 or 385 to Marathon and continue for about 70 miles to Big Bend.

If individuals fly into Midland/Odessa Airport, they can travel via bus to either Fort Stockton or Alpine, TX. Pick-ups from the bus or train station to Big Bend can be arranged.

A personal vehicle is not required but highly recommended. There is no public transportation in the park or to any local communities. The closest towns are Terlingua and Study Butte, just 30 minutes outside of the west entrance of the park.

  • How can I get in touch with the hiring team?

You can contact Shanon Roadarmel by emailing Roadarmel-Shanon@aramark.com or calling 432-244-6555.
