Whether you are an undergraduate student about to apply for admission, a high school student looking at career options, or a non-traditional student who is considering changing careers, our website will provide you with the information and connections you need about the field of dentistry and our admissions process.
The college is currently not accepting transfer students or transfer credits.
The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry is a member of AADSAS (Associated American Dental School Application Service).
We encourage you to apply early, preferably in the late summer, and no later than September 1. The deadline to submit an application is October 15.
Once applications have reached the AADSAS verified status, please watch for an email from UK College of Dentistry requesting payment of an application processing fee. We will communicate all updates by email. As these emails sometimes find their way to Junk and Trash folders, please be watchful. AADSAS advises applicants to also add ‘donotreply@webadmit.org’ to their safe senders list.
The UK College of Dentistry operates on a rolling admission basis. Admission interviews may begin in late August and continue until the class is full. Interviews are required for admission consideration and are scheduled weeks in advance. ADEA AADSAS® (ADEA Associated American Dental School Application Service) has notified participating dental schools of a change in the applicant acceptance notification date for the 2024-25 application cycle. As December 15, 2024, falls on a Sunday, the applicant acceptance notification date will change to December 13.
All applicants, whether first-time or not, must file an application with AADSAS for the year in which admission is desired.
When all materials have been received by our office, your application will be assigned for review by members of the Admissions Committee. Decisions are made as files are reviewed, including interview invitations, generally beginning mid-July and will continue as long as needed.
Applicants are invited to interview at the request of the Admissions Committee. Only those application files that are complete will be considered for interviews. The interview schedule typically runs from the end of August until early December. An invitation for an interview indicates that the Admissions Committee has a strong interest in you. It is important to note that many more applicants are interviewed than there are positions in the class. Candidates will be contacted by email if selected to interview. These emails sometimes find their way to Junk and Trash folders, so be watchful.
The interview is a chance for the Admissions Committee to become acquainted with candidates beyond the application. UKCD will continue to interview in panel format. This format allows each candidate to have a traditional interview in conversation style. Each interview panel will be made up of members of the Admissions Committee, faculty, staff, and students.
The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry abides by the "Traffic Rules" guidelines as recommended by the American Dental Education Association. Thus, provisional or final acceptances will not be offered prior to December 15 to any applicant for the class to enroll in August. When an offer of admission has been extended, the applicant will be contacted with information regarding a non-refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied to the applicants tuition at the beginning of the fall term.
