INTRODUCTION:
The current engineering education is focussed on
outcome based education (OBE). The OBE
emphasises on learning outcomes rather than on
teacher input. To facilitate this, a new teaching
learning process needs to be followed. The
process involves restructuring of curriculum,
student assessment methods and practices to
reflect higher order learning.
Teachers who are facilitators are responsible to
create environment conducive for learners so that
they acquire knowledge, skills, and values.
Facilitators should be able to help learners to
identify and solve problems through critical and
creative thinking skills.
To do so, facilitators must be competent enough
and be aware of methods and techniques so as to
bring about the desired results among learners.
Constant updating of changing technologies and
developments in respective study areas
accompanied by know-how of proper
dissemination of acquired knowledge in a
planned way with better communication skills,
research methodologies, is the need of the hour
for teachers.
This workshop provides an insight in to various
aspects of knowledge needed for teachers,
starting from curriculum design to setting up of
new laboratories, R & D and patents, thus
marching ahead to meet the challenges in the
modern education system. A brief exposure to
Performance based Appraisal is also included in
the workshop.
