Expectant mothers may travel up to and including the 27 weeks of their pregnancy, and will be
accepted between 28 to 35 weeks if they are in possession of a doctor's certificate confirming

the stage of their pregnancy and stating that they are fit to fly. Expectant mothers above their 36
weeks will not be allowed to fly on Air India Express.
In international sectors, the pregnant guest can travel up to 28 weeks if there are no
complications. In case there are complications or between 29-35 week the treating doctors fitness
certificate is required with due date mentioned in it, the above 35 weeks travel is not permitted.
After a normal delivery, the mother can travel by air as soon as she feels able to make the journey. In
Jet Airways, the mother is permitted to fly 48 hours after a normal delivery, provided she has a
Fitness to Fly certificate from her treating obstetrician. Air travel may present problems for the baby.
In the first 48 hours of life, the neonatal lung may have small areas of atelectasis, leading to
ventilation-perfusion inequalities in the lung.
Pregnant Women - In case of normal pregnancies, expectant mothers till the end of 27 weeks of
pregnancy may be permitted to fly on IndiGo flights without filling up a form and/or Fit to Fly
Certificate provided there are no prior complications.

However, Fit to Fly Certificates dated not more than three days before the date of travel is a must
only if :- Pregnancy is between 28th till the 32nd Week
- Passenger has declared any prior complication

In addition to above requirements, passenger is also required to produce medical document

stating number of weeks advanced in pregnancy. Expectant mothers beyond 32 weeks of
pregnancy shall not be allowed to travel.
Expectant mothers may travel up to and including the 27 weeks of their pregnancy, and will be
accepted between the 28 to 35 weeks only if they are in possession of a doctor's certificate
confirming the stage of their pregnancy and stating that they are fit to fly.
For 28 weeks up to and including 35 weeks duration of pregnancy-The fit to fly certificate must
be issued (by the passenger's attending gynecologist/MBBS doctor) at the most 48 hours prior to
departure. This certificate will have to be presented at check-in when requested.
Expectant mothers 36 weeks and above are not allowed to fly on SpiceJet flights.
If you are pregnant and plan to travel once you have entered your 29th week of pregnancy, a
medical certificate or letter signed by an appropriately qualified doctor or midwife is required,
stating:
the confirmation of a singleton or multiple pregnancy
the pregnancy is progressing without complications
the estimated date of delivery
the date up to which you are expected to be fit to travel
that you are in good health

that there is no reason known to them that would prevent you from flying
Please note that if you choose not to carry a medical certificate, you may not be accepted for travel if
there is any doubt about your ability to complete the journey safely.
If yours is a multiple pregnancy, no air travel is permitted after the 32nd week of gestation. For single
pregnancies, travel after the 36th week of gestation will be permitted only after prior clearance is
granted by the Emirates medical department. A medical information form (MEDIF) will need to be
submitted for clearance purposes.
Thought should be given to whether the medical facilities at your destination country are adequate to
cope with any problems which may arise. Sufficient travel insurance is strongly recommended in case
of preterm labour abroad. It is wise to avoid travelling to remote locations whilst pregnant.
Some countries restrict or limit entry of non-national pregnant women. We recommend that you
consult with the local consulate or embassy if in any doubt.
Heavy lifting during pregnancy should be avoided, so take care with your baggage.
Mothers expecting one or multiple children can travel with Etihad Airways during the first 28 weeks
of pregnancy without a medical certificate.
From the beginning of the 29th week to the end of the 36th week, guests expecting one child
will need to submit a medical certificate from their doctor/midwife stating fitness for travel, number
of weeks pregnant and estimated due date. Guests expecting multiple children must do the same
from the beginning of the 29th week to the end of the 32nd week.
From the beginning of the 37th week of pregnancy onwards, guests expecting one child will not be
accepted for travel on an Etihad Airways flight. From the beginning of the 33rd week of pregnancy
onwards, guests expecting multiple children will not be accepted for travel on an Etihad Airways flight.
We recommend guests avoid air travel up to 7 days after delivery
