This document summarizes a lesson observation of a student teacher teaching a grade 3 math lesson on multiplication. The observer gave the student teacher excellent ratings in all competency areas. In the overview, the observer notes the teacher had a good introduction and used pictorial and abstract representations effectively. The teacher demonstrated good instructional strategies and behavior management. However, the areas for development were that the lesson relied too much on direct instruction and it was unclear what type of differentiation was used. The focus for the next lesson should be on differentiation.
