Lesson Plan in Basic Accounting

Forms of Business Organization/Ownership

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the student would be able to:

A. understand the business owner objectives;


B. identify the three main forms of business organization: Sole Proprietorship,
Partnership and Corporation and cite examples in the local community or region;
and
C. differentiate the advantages and disadvantages of the three forms of business
organization in a market economy.

III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Set up and test equipment
3. Check attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standard

B. Motivation
 The students will play word construction by constructing the letters given by
the teacher.
 The students will give a brief definition about the word constructed.
 The teacher will instruct the students to close their eyes. Let them imagine
the different businesses they have seen inside the mall. Ask them to give at
least three businesses based on what they had in mind.
C. Lesson Proper
1. Pre-Activity

The teacher will introduce the new lesson by using a powerpoint presentation of the
following topics:

 The three forms of business organization:


1. Sole Proprietorship
2. Partnership
3. Corporation
 Business Owners Objectives
 Differentiate the advantages and disadvantages of the three forms of
business in a market economy.

2. Activity Proper
Quiz Bee Procedures:
a. Divide the class into two groups.
b. The teacher will read the question twice.
c. The student will raise the illustration board after writing the answer.
d. The first group who answer correctly will earn the point.
e. The student on the first row will pass the illustration board at the back to
answer the next question.
f. The group who got more points will be the winner.
g. Winners will receive a special prize from the teacher.

Level I - Identify the statement whether true or false. #1-5


1. A sole proprietorship can have more than one employee.
2. The business income of a partnership is tax as the personal income of the
partners.
3. Creditors of a partnership cannot seek repayment of business debts from the
personal assets of the partners.
4. Sole proprietors are not personally liable for all debts and obligations of their
businesses.
5. All partners of may participate in management of partnership business.

Level II – Give the correct answer. #6-10

3. Generalization:
What have you learned on the different patterns of the business ownership?

The teacher will give additional information on the part, which she thinks
does not fully covered by the students, and discuss the importance can be
applied in real life.

inferentially by providing an accurate analysis; addresses the prompt and provides
minimal development of the topic.

1-demonstrates no comprehension of ideas by providing an inaccurate no


analysis; is 0 – no answer written on the paper.

1. Describe the three types of business organizations in a market economy.


2. Differentiate Partnership from Corporation.
3. If you were to start a business, what type of business organization will be most
advantageous for your business? Explain your answer.
V. Assignment: Divide the class into five groups.

Conduct an interview of at least three business owners in your community.

Entrepreneurship interview guide:

1. Name of entrepreneur
2. Name of entrepreneur's business
3. Type of business organization
4. List products of business (goods and/or services)
5. Number of employees
6. List benefits of business to society
7. Chart growth of business since its inception
8. Challenges in operating the business
9. Attached photos of your group with the entrepreneur as proof of evidence during
interview.
