This document provides instructions for quantitatively estimating glucose in human serum using the glucose oxidase-peroxidase (GOD-POD) method. The principle involves glucose being oxidized by glucose oxidase to produce gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide then reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol catalyzed by peroxidase to produce a red quinoneimine dye, the intensity of which is directly proportional to the glucose concentration in the sample. The absorbance of the sample is measured against a reagent blank and compared to a standard curve to calculate the glucose concentration.
