My interest in the BA hons course is sparked by a passion and
commitment to the Performing Arts. As an actress I aspire to
fully dedicate myself to my art and continuously progress. I am invested in becoming a versatile and well-rounded actress in order to engage and inspire audiences, providing entertainment as well as a new perspective on political issues or moral beliefs. I am dedicated to telling stories and inhabiting different characters without judgement or bias. I have worked with varying theatre companies such as “The Northcott Young Company.” I achieved up to a Grade 5 Vanguard Acting Exam and a Grade 8 ensemble acting examination with distinction with “The Drama School of Exeter.” I can adapt to new environments and people flexibly as an actress. Partly due to the fact that as an active member of the “National Youth Theatre” I have worked with a range of companies across the country, with like-minded young people on short films such as Total Insight Theatre’s “Crossing the Threshold” as well as a paid promotional video. This developed my teamwork and leadership skills, showing the importance of listening as well as communicating and exploring ideas effectively as part of a group. As a part of the Exeter College Performing Arts Academy, I also featured in a short film called “Behind the Curtain” by a local company called "Wandering Tiger” exploring the impact of the coronavirus on a diverse collective of individuals in society. The project was filmed online, independently, giving me directorial and production experience. As a practitioner I pride myself in my enthusiasm, problem solving skills and work ethic. Skills I acquired in my part-time job as a housekeeper at “Rockbeare Manor” a local wedding venue, the role is extremely physically demanding and requires working in a close group communicating and cooperating with colleagues individual work style and capabilities. In the winter season of 2019, I worked as a professional performer in a Santa’s grotto acting as an elf singing and taking care of children. This job enabled me to upskill my improvising technique as well as provide a different perspective of acting that was more interactive with the audience and therefore intimate. This job required me to stay in character for long periods of time, developing my character work and discipline. It was necessary to be consistently punctual due to the fact the grotto operated on a strict timetable. As a person I have a great passion for the outdoors, I particularly love surfing. I have a great interest in classic 1990s films such as “The Beach” and “The Green Mile.” In my spare time I enjoy reading screenplays by directors I admire such as Martin Scorcese, Joel and Ethan Coen.
