Alright may I call on our daily sharer for today

Miss Pearl please stand up and share with us
what you had learned from our previous topic?
Pearl: Yes, Our previous topic was about Technical
Drafting and I learned that it is a process for making
accurate drawings using special drawing tools and
instruments.
Yes Very good, Thank you miss Pearl
and as she had mentioned, Technical Drafting
uses drawing tools and materials for drawing and
designing purposes.

And since you already know what technical

drawing is from the previous topic.
Today's lesson objectives will help you to:

● Demonstrate an understanding of hand

tools and equipment in technical
drafting.

and

● Identify drafting materials and tools

according to its uses.

Engage:

(Activity 1)

I want everyone to form 2 groups

This column is group 1 and the other column will
be group 2.

Now in a piece of paper Draw 3 common

materials that you used to create a drawing.

I will give you 1 and a half minutes to create the

drawing and please choose a representative to
present your drawings in front.

Timer starts now.

Explore:

Times up.

Group 1 please present your output.

Group 1: (presents)

Thank you.
Group 2 please show us what you have drawn. Group 2: (presents)

Thank you class.

Yes, all of those drawings of materials you

presented are called basic materials in Drafting.

Common answers we got are pencils, erasers and

paper.

Explain:

I believe that all of you here have already

encountered these materials based on your
presentations.

Of course because these materials are commonly

used in drawing.

There are also a great variety of Drafting

materials and tools, not just common pencils,
erasers and rulers.

These are the basic Drafting materials and tools:

DRAWING PAPER-

Hard and Soft surface drawing papers are highly

recommended.
This type does not groove easily when pressure is
applied to the pencil.

MASKING TAPE-

Used to fasten the drawing paper on the table.

ERASER-

Used to clean the dirt off the table.

DRAWING PENCIL-

One of the most important tools that comes in

various grades

Hard Grades: Best used in technical Drafting for

extreme accuracy while working on graphs,
diagrams and charts.

Medium Grade: used for general purpose

Soft Grade: used in various kinds of art that

requires soft leds.
T-SQUARE-

Used when making horizontal lines.

Used to guide triangles when making vertical
lines.
Made of wood, plastic or a combination of both.

TRIANGLE-

Three-sided ruler used in making Vertical lines.

Usually made of plastic and comes in different
sizes.
If in use, the base of the triangle must rest on the
blade of the T-square
Drawing a line always starts at the base going
upward.

Do you understand?
Students: Yes ma'am

Elaborate:
Now, I know it is not enough for you to just learn
the concepts on drafting materials. So in order for
you to demonstrate the skills we will have an
activity.

I want you to go back to your groups and settle

down.

I have here:

2- T-Squares
2- Drawing Papers
1- Masking Tape
1- (45 deg. x 45 deg.) Triangle
1- (30 deg. x 60 deg.) Triangle

All of you will listen to the directions on how to

properly use the materials.

STEPS:

1. Place the T-square head on the straight edge of

the table.

2. Align the paper based to the edge of the

T-Square.

3. Use masking tape to hold the paper in place.

4. Remember that your drawing hand should be

opposite of the T-square’s head placement.

Did everyone get it?

Students: Noted ma'am.
Now that the papers are in place:

GROUP 1: DRAW HORIZONTAL LINES &

45 DEGREES LINES

GROUP 2: DRAW VERTICAL LINES &

30 DEGREES LINES

I will give you 2 mins to finish the drawing. Students: (Group output)

Evaluation:
I see that everyone did a great job with the
activity.

Now on for a 5 item quiz.

Please get a ¼ sheet of paper.

1-3. Enumerate at least 3 Drafting tools and

materials.

4. It is used when making Vertical Lines.

5. It is used when making Horizontal Lines.
