Direct Burial Decoder Cable

For Irrigation Decoder System

1.0 SCOPE:

1.1 This specification covers single conductor Splicing Recommendations:

insulated wire sizes 14 AWG, through 10 AWG,
utilizing solid extracted polyethylene insulation, It is especially important to make proper
twisted, suitable for direct burial applications joints in irrigation systems because the joints
for operation up to 600 volts and conductor are exposed to wet and damp environments
temperatures up to 60°C. that can cause corrosion TO the copper
conductor, and premature failure. MEAC/
MESC recommends the strict use of the wire
connectors Model DBR/Y.
2.0 CONSTRUCTION:

2.1 Conductor:

Solid annealed copper meeting the

requirements of ASTM specifications B-3.

2.2 Temperature Ratings:

-55°C to + 60°C.

2.3 Insulation:

Solid extracted polyethylene Insulation

thickness shall be 0.060” (1.52 mm). Conductor
colors are as follows and shall be twisted with
a 4” lay.
