1.Which personal traits do I possess? Not possess? Where do I need improvement in?
Answer:
As an aspiring student teacher some of the personal traits that I posses are; kind, positive, hardworking,
passionate, trustworthy, compassionate and flexible. On the other hand, the trait I did not possess are;
good time management and confidence in handling difficult things. These unpossessed traits affect
myself from progressing and I eagerly wanted to attain this trait to improve myself, be the best version
of myself and become prepared to my future profession as a future.
I believe in the learning theory of John Dewey “learning through experience”. I am strongly capable of
demonstrating knowledge and skills by using a teaching style that is effective to students learning. I will
teach student in a way that they can clearly catch up topic, apply skills through application of what the
students learn and assessing their performance by giving exams and do feedbacking in order for the
students what they need to improve. These experiences are a big help for the student’s future for
experience is the best teacher.
The teachers that we remember most are the ones who give us not just knowledge and skills but also
values and good deeds that left marks in our heart and mind for the rest of our lives and makes us grow
to be a good person inside and out especially to the people in our community.
1. OBSERVE. In assisting my Resource Teacher, I observed that personal traits such as strict and
consistent and professional competencies like professionalism and communication were
least/not displayed and as a result, students were/ class was showing poor interest on the
lesson, other students don’t participate and interact attentively in class and shows lack of
respect to their teacher.
2. REFLECT. The lack of these personal traits and professional competencies (mentioned in #1) may
be caused by the teacher’s lack of competency. The teacher ought to be well prepared specially
in her professional competencies to be an effective and efficient teacher. Though the teacher
thinks she’s doing her best already, it is still a lesson for her improve the things she’s lacking. As
the saying says “don’t give up, never stop learning”.
3. PLAN. I would like to address this problem (mentioned in #2) by conducting an action research
on what strategies teacher apply to foster better communication and what behavior a teacher
should exhibit to his/her students.
4. ACT. a) The main objective of my action research is to maintain respect and open
communication towards the teachers and students.
